Aircel to invest heavily in the coming years
Maxis Communications owned mobile service provider Aircel aims to invest close to $5 billion over the next four years in India.
This investment would be used to expand their services and infrastructure around the country.
The company has already invested close to $2 billion in its Indian operations so far.
Aircel currently operates 7,000 towers across the country. They are now going to set up 15,000 more.
Sandip Das, chief executive officer, Maxis Communications spoke about their plans for India: “We are looking to introduce several value-added services in India that we have already rolled out in other countries. For instance, multimedia messaging or value-added-services built around SMSs is one area we are strongly exploring for the Indian market. These are available in Malaysia right now. We will launch special schemes and tariffs for rural and urban India.”
