Another undocumented special feature from the biggest and best broadband service provider in India in addition to the 75megs a day limit on shared accounts…

So, Sify is so cool that they are providing you and me unlimited connectivity at just 650 bucks. But that does not tell you that you will be paying 3500 just to get that network cable extended to your home. That does not tell you that speeds could go down to level of bytes and Sify Customer Care people won’t get worried about it. That does not tell you that you will have to get the services practically extracted out of you cable guys. That does not tell you that your CTO would be asking for service charges that Sify mention nowhere. And that does not tell you that they are practically screwing you as badly as they can while they can.

A post from the Sify Broadband Forum:

i am very frustrated of being a user of sify. i got this connection three months ago. My CTO did not ask any service charge for first two months. And i was happy and felt proud of my CTO, when i heard that you paying $$$ to CTO as service charge. This month my fu*k’in CTO asked me Rs.50.
i asked him why should i pay you?. nothing is mentioned about service charge in sifybroadband.com, licence aggrement and you did not tell about this. he said this money is being used for eletric bills and server maintenance and for cable cost. i asked him can’t you take the money form the package itself. he said our neighbor CTO asking rs.100 we are just asking only 50.

what can i tell him?

I truly regret the day I opted for this broad band connection. Half the time it is non-operative; chasing the cable guy is another long story that ends in futility. It is the biggest rip off trip in broadband connectivity circles. I want my money back.

i was using hi hathway cable connection before taking sify broad band. its ad looks cool that you have to pay just 450 per month high speed etc’ and if you take it you will get screwed up like anything the first problem you will face how to log in. hell! you have to use all your trouble shooting skills if you don’t have that skills plz try to learn trouble shooting from some good institute before taking sify broad band to log in while log in, it shows all kinds of error and if you format your system you are in a soup. sify broad band client nevers works properly and every time when you load sify client it asks to downlaod antivirus which you have to download from sify itself. you have to consider yourself very lucky if you are able to download it every time its shows as not responding my suggestion to people who are planning to take sify think twice becoz all the time you will be making calls to sify customer care where you will never get postive response.

Bought MULX(Rs. 400/- 64kbps unlimited for a month) package effective 22nd Jul. Till night of 6th Aug the account was showing expiry date as 21st Aug with cash balance of 195.50/-. On 7th morning the account shows Rs. 40/- balance and expiry as 10th Aug.The guy in customer service says its alright. They seem to ‘ve been catching up with business practices of ORANGE pre paid service.

I renewed my sify connection ( 2 months unlimited, 64 Kbps, Rs. 945 + Rs. 50 = Rs.994 ) which came with free Mcafee virus protection. Now Sify keep sending a small message saying Service tax of 12.24% + Educational tax of 2% will be added from 19/4/06. I was told that the amount paide by me (Rs.994/- ) already includes all taxes. Is it correct or am I liable to pay any additional amount ? (Please give me the details of payments to make for my connection including the service tax & Educational tax.

Now the Mcafee virus scan icon shows that the subscription has expired and the virus management key is inactive. What is this new problem and what should be done to make this virus scan programme (given free by Sify) operative.

Please send your comment, advise to .
    Thank you,

    Hi Folks,

Its been 4 months of utter frustration and display of incompetency by Sify Broadband and ICC cable Network in Pune.
Every single day that i get on the net, i get this stupid error as “BB 101- UNABLE TO REACH GATEWAY”. I have lodged numerous complaints with Sify and the local cable guy who has installed the connection. BUT I AM STILL WAITING FOR A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. If i get the chance, i will get this article in the newspaper !!!

    Hi,

I have similar experience like Adnan.

I have got sify broad band throug ICC cable network in Pune and I have experienced worst level of service from this. ICC installed connection and it worked only for one week and after that it stopped working.

I have followed up with ICC as well as sify customer care for around 15 days but nobody has taken any interest in resolving the problem.

These people are really worst in the world I think, I have never seen any other company/service provider at this much worst level of customer handling and service.

I strongly recommend all of you who got chance to read this, do anything but never go for sify/icc in pune, please save yourself from cheating.
