MTN Group says no deal with India’s Reliance

South Africa’s MTN Group has revealed that they are unable to form any deal with the Indian telecom player Reliance.

The company said that they faced legal and regulatory issues in forming any kind of partnership with Reliance.

Reliance entered into talks with MTN after they discarded their discussions with another Indian company Bharti Airtel.

MTN Group said: “Owing to certain legal and regulatory issues, the parties are unable to conclude a transaction. Accordingly, it has been mutually decided to allow the exclusivity agreement to lapse ….”
