BSNL 3G before the end of the year
Government owned telecom company BSNL has announced that they would be launching their 3G services before the end of the year.
BSNL Chairman and MD Kuldeep Goyal said in a statement: “We will be commencing the operations by the end of December starting from North and Eastern parts of the country and then South and West by March, 2009, so that within six months we will be able to roll out the 3G operations.”
He added: “Mostly we will try to cover the state capitals in the first phase and then taking it to major cities and other towns.”
BSNL added that they expect the demand to pick up as 3G capable mobile phones are becoming more and more affordable.
Once the services are launched, more devices are expected to be launched in the market which can make use of this next generation network.
