TRAI has some good news for prepaid mobile users in India
TRAI has taken some actions to make life easier for prepaid mobile users in the country.
They have now instructed the mobile service providers to remove the processing charges on recharge cards. This is to improve transparency in tariffs and to protect the interests of consumers.
They have also now told the companies to charge nothing from customers who want to convert their prepaid numbers to postpaid ones.
Mobile service providers in the country have till September 15 to implement these changes.
TRAI said that companies can at max charge an administrative fee of Rs. 2 maximum for prepaid topups.
TRAI noted: “In cases of straight tariff reductions, where the declared intention of the operator is to extend the benefit to all subscribers without any attached liabilities, there shall not be any pre-condition of explicit positive action on the part of the subscribers.”
