Sun Direct DTH enters northern Indian market
Chennai-based DTH service provider Sun Direct has now launched their services in the North Indian market.
They have now launched their operations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir.
The company added in a statement that they plan to invest Rs 150 crore more this year to expand their subscriber base to 3 million.
Sun Direct added: “The launch in the northern region is part of our steps towards expansion plans.”
The company has a special offer for new customers. They are offering a basic package of over 130-plus channels for 10 months subscription for Rs. 1999. This includes the cost of the dish and the set top box.
Sun Direct Chief Operating Officer Tony D’silva spoke about their performance: “We have achieved 1.4 million subscribers in the four states of south since we launched in December 2007 and we plan to achieve same number of subscribers from this region.”
Their rivals in the DTH market include Zee Dish TV, Tata Sky and Reliance Big TV.
