Idea to expand presence in Bihar

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group has announced that they are giving a USD 100 million dollar loan to Indian mobile service provider Idea.

Idea would be using these funds to expand their presence in Bihar. They would also be working on rolling out their national long distance telephony network.

Sanjeev Aga, Managing Director of Idea Cellular spoke about these new developments: “IFC’s investment will provide the much-needed long-term funding that many companies in India find difficult to access, while helping expand the local telecommunications infrastructure. Following our recent launch in Mumbai, we will soon be providing services in Bihar, and are grateful to IFC for helping achieve this goal.”

Mohsen A. Khalil, IFC Director for Global Information and Communication Technologies added: “Improving communications infrastructure creates opportunities for many people and businesses in India, particularly in underserved areas such as Bihar.”
