NTT DoCoMo acquiring stake in Tata Teleservices
NTT DoCoMo has announced that they are now going to acquire a stake in Indian telecom company Tata Teleservices.
The Japanese telecom giant would be paying 2.7 billion dollars for a 26 percent stake in the Indian company.
NTT DoCoMo chief executive officer Ryuji Yamada spoke about this deal: “We regard this investment as one of the top priorities of our international strategy. The Tata group, in addition to its achievements and reliability, has a quality network and sales channels and a strong brand. It possesses high growth potential. We firmly believe they are our best partner in India.”
Tata Teleservices managing director Anil Sardana added: “The key criteria for a young mobile operator like ours is a partner who would bring the top most technology.”
Tata is a relatively smaller player in India but they are expanding at a decent rate.
Tata DOCOMO is the name of the venture for the Indian market.
