Indian ISP's cheating???

Look at this finding dear all!!!

It appears to be that though we have several ISP's in India with different brand names, unfortunately the customers are left at the mercy of another ISP(which he\she is not a subscriber at all) for the performance of his internet connection. This rises a question of why we have different ISPs at all??I will give you an example how this is affecting the consumer.

1.We are under the impression that if we are a subsriber of X brand ISP it is thier responsibility to provide us with internet service as per their plans.packages & policies without the influence of another Y brand ISP,right?? we all thought that way, untill now,but not so.example:

Let us say you are a subsriber of X brand ISP & another person is a subscriber of Y brand ISP.(As observed lately in the case of airtel blocking voip access)

It is found that many of the ISPs do not have their own last mile internet connection gate ways to connect your connection to the internet. They instead depend on one or more of other brand ISPs to route their traffic to the internet using their internet gateways.

Let us say that the Y brand ISP is using X brand ISP's gate way at the end to uplink your connection to the internet.Let us assume that X for some reasons of his own decides to block voip traffic to his subscribers. Now in reality does this affect only the subscribers of X brand,NO.It is affecting the Y brand subscribers too as their traffic is also routed through X brand gateways. This will happen with or without seeking any permission from Y brand ISP or its subscribers.

It has happened lately with airtel & bsnl customers.Airtel blocked voip for its subscribers & bsnl(some of the customers who were routed through airtel gateway)customers voip access was blocked too. That too without even bsnl knowing about it.

So the question now is what TRAI or DOT is doing by allowing few ISPs to control other ISPs??Where is the freedom of choice supposed to have been given to the customer to choose his own ISP gone??are the ISPs without having their own internet connection gateways to cater to its full subscribers tarffic are a mere large scale CYBER CAFEs??

Will some one read this & provide me with suggestions or correct me if I am wrong??If this is true consumers will have to have a dozen of ISPs working for them so that if one ISPs policy criples their connection, then they have to switch to other one which works,is this how it is supposed to be??

Oh!!God save us!!!

but today in Bangalore , the airtel's customer support said that this is a ALL INDIA POLICY. Maybe they will enforce this policy in areas where Airtel BB is established well.. but the Airtel marketing team says that this is implemented only in south states and let other areas to grow before they implement this curse.
