15 million new mobile subscribers in January in India
India might be facing issues when it comes to the broadband revolution with companies like Airtel throttling user’s internet connectivity.
But the mobile segment continues to see tremendous growth.
The Indian market saw an addition of 15 million new mobile connections in the month of January alone.
This is largely due to the entry of Reliance Communications in the GSM segment. Reliance added close to 5 million new subscribers last month.
TRAI said in a statement that the country now has more than 400 million telecom connections. Mobile connections alone account for 91% of the country’s telephone base.
The telephone density in the country has now improved to almost 35%.
India also now has around 5.65 million subscribers to high speed internet connectivity.
