Airtel IPTV customers are already reporting problems with service

Airtel IPTV is just a couple of weeks old and the service is already creating massive problems for the customers.

We have an Airtel IPTV connection at our place and the service is practically unusable after evening.

We are waiting for a response from the Airtel Digital TV customer support which of course does not work on a Sunday.

Here is another user’s experience on Airtel IPTV:

Airtel IPTV has turned into a painful experience. It is guaranteed to be down 99.2% of the time. I have never been able to watch a channel for more than 5 minutes in the past 7 days. Its so bad, its pathetic.

An Airtel engineer comes to my house every 2nd day, camps for over 1 hour talking to
various people, tinkering with settings etc. and goes away. Things are back to square one.

I have one recommendation: DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO AIRTEL IPTV, UNLESS YOU WISH TO BE GUINEA PIGS FOR EXPERIMENTATION.

Same is with MTNL’s IPTV “I-Control”.
I think currently IPTV technology is not completely developed in INDIA.
Reliance is also launching it’s IPTV service in 2010.
Reliance has collabrated with Microsoft, so I think it’s service will be better, As this service is also in testing

The problem for iptv is the unreliable internet connections (read packet loss and disconnections ) we have in this country, Airtel now has 8mbps plans available, i hope they switch their iptv to these networks. It is impossible to stream a live television on a 256 kbps line.

airtel blocks 6mbps bandwidth for iptv. that is separate from the internet connectivity you get on your connection.
