Samsung, Mirc Electronics and Spice Mobile told to not sell dual-sim mobile phones!
This is an interesting development.
Somasundaram Ramkumar is an electronics engineer who holds the Indian patent for plurality of SIM cards in a single mobile handset. It also covers plurality of Bluetooth devices in headphone and earphone jacks.
Ramkumar filed a petition in the Madras High Court asking to restrict mobile phone operators from selling dual sim phones in the Indian market.
And he has apparently won a battle.
Madras High Court has ordered Samsung, Mirc Electronics and Spice Mobile along with other retailers to no longer manufacture and sell these devices in the Indian market.
D Ferdinand, Ramkumar’s lawyer spoke about the ruling: “On a petition filed by our client Somasundaram Ramkumar, Justice Jaypaul has issued an injunction whereby Samsung Electronics, Mirc Electronics and Spice Mobile were restrained from manufacturing multiple SIM holding mobile phones.”
