ZTE bets big on Indian market

ZTE is one of those mobile phone makers which sell their phones to mobile service providers and these phones are mostly sold with third party brands.

As a result, most customers never realize that they are using a ZTE branded mobile phone.

This Chinese company is betting big on the Indian market where they expect their revenues to cross the $1 billion mark in 2009.

The company managed to generate $750 million in sales revenues last year.

They are expecting a major bump in revenues with the launch of 3G platform in the Indian market.

BSNL and MTNL are already offering 3G services in India and private players are expected to join soon.

Wei Zaisheng, executive vice president of ZTE spoke about their plans for India: “ZTE India is in advanced stages of talks with a couple of large telecom players for their 3G rollout. Additionally, we have a strong cash support position for Indian operators, as China Development Bank has provided ZTE a $15 billion credit line, which will include ZTE’s overseas project financing and credit limits.”
