Airtel 16mbps Plan costs 3600 rupees per hour

We have some more details on Airtel Broadband’s 16mbps plan.

The plan comes with insane charges once you have crossed your limits.

We have already shown that the limits are pretty terrible considering you can reach them within 3-7 hours.

The company charges 50 paisa per Megabyte on this plan after the limits are crossed.

At 16mbps you are literally downloading 2 megabytes per second. That means you would end up paying a rupee for every second of usage.

This comes to around 3600 rupees per hour of usage.

Ghatiya Plaan…I also dropped my idea to buy this plan whn i come to knw that limit is just 20GB. At the speed of 16mbps 20 Gb is like “OOT KE MUH ME JEERA” they shud make it to unlimted or 50-100 GB at least

Crappy article! Ridiculous assumption of using 100% bandwidth at all times which is not practical. The bottomline i.e the rate per MB is the standard across all providers.

we are assuming 100% usage just to showcase the insanity of the plan.

the package can be consumed in 7 hours. that is around a third of a day. you pay for the entire month.

what are you going to do with 16mbps if you are not even going to use it for what is capable of? check emails?

anyone who goes for this plan would use it for things that would eat up bandwidth fast.

and 20GB and 50GB would not last long.

and after that you pay 1 rupee per second of usage.

i think that is insane enough.

the point of the article is, airtel should have offered to slow down the speed of the package to let’s say 512kbps after the download limit is reached.

no one is going to alert you fast enough if you cross the limits. one hour of usage after crossing the limit means what? thousands of rupees in extra payment.

i think i have stated my point clearly.

One must assume 100% bandwidth and compute the possible charges. It’s self explanatory. After all, an ISP promises 100 % bandwidth though he may fail to provide, right ?

the idea of “download limit” for a broadband plan maybe standard across all providers, but it will only happen in India. We take in any scraps these so called providers offer us at outrageous rates, n never stop to think, why?

    paying 3600rs/hour,thats nearly 75$
try telling that to a foreigner, he would call us crazy

they should make this plan unlimited at this price or atleast start providing 1,2 or 4 Mbps unlimited below 1000 Rs, limited data transfer plans r just a waste and r of no use to most of internet users, True broadband is only when there is no broadband cap and everything is unlimited, India still ranks 115th at internet speed and is far behind the developed world, shame on india, they should start giving high speed internet and stop giving limited plans, make it unlimited

    Regarding all your complaints,

After going through all your complaints, we have come to the conclusion that our 16 Mbps plans are indeed SHIT. We have requested our planing division to reconsider the amount of money involved. Customers are always the source of money for Airtel. We could have reduced the tariffs earlier, but we will not be able to get huge profit margins in the first quarter. There are brainless intellectuals out there who will go for this plan. These are the audience we are targeting. I repeat again that these plans are only meant for people who shit money.

    Thanks
