Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel has become the first Indian company to sponsor the popular soccer club Manchester United.

Bharti has signed a five year long collaborative deal with the UK based Manchester United.

The two entities did not reveal the financial aspects of this sponsorship deal.

Airtel said that this deal would allow them to offer Manchester United related content to their mobile subscribers.

Airtel said: “Football is definitely seeing a growing interest amongst the young population in India. We are making a pioneering effort to bring them rich football content on their mobiles.”

Bharti Airtel is all set to become the first telecom company in India to have a subscriber base of 100 million.
