Sify Broadband CTOs are freaking liars

Sify Broadband: Stop lying that your services are better than dial-up. Coz even Dialup users don’t have their net disconnected when power fails in their region. Dialup works even when there are rains and dialup works even when there are storms. Perhaps, this is a case where government machinery works better than private firms. As BSNL’s Telephone network happens to be more reliable than Sify Broadband’s Cable Network.
What are the promises they made when I applied for a connection with them? They promised me reliable net. They promised me 24 hours customer support. They promised me timely services. None of these promises are fulfilled.
Reliability?
It’s a shame that they call their services reliable. My net goes down at the slightest sight of a windstorm or rains. I have seen the network switch for my connection floating half submerged in water placed in a polythene bag on the top of a tree. And I have seen more blatant lies. I paid 3500 bucks for installation (more than twice of what Touchtel DSL charges) to get a cable coming to my house from a pole supported on the way by trees. Now they want me to pay around 12-15 Ks to get fiber cable connection to get the reliability I want (which they originally promised). Very smart marketing people they have on their rolls.
Since the last 4 months they were claiming complete power backup of the entire local area. Backup that lasted 1.5 hours of power cut. And for the last 4 months I have been complaining that it does not exist coz my net goes down with every power cut. The interesting thing is that earlier they used to say it’s backed up with a UPS supply hence would not go down even for a second. Later their claim went back to an Inverter backed supply that would mean a breakdown of 2-3 seconds for the power to switch. Last week they came back to the truth that my line was not on the backup line and they would fix it soon. Tuesday was the day my net was down the whole day. They tackled my complaint by saying that the network is being updated for proper power backup hence the problems. So far so good. Today, there was minor windstorm outside, light went out and boom, and so does my net. I call my local guy and he said, backup is there and the problem might be due to storm. And as I was talking to him light came back for few moments and the network was back online! So much so for facts and truths. Light went down again and so did my network and here I am writing another post on my terrible terrible ISP Sify Broadband waiting for my net to get back on so that I can work after 2 days of unpaid leaves which have costed me pretty badly financially and emotionally.
Local customer support.
The local linesman rarely picks up the phone after 8pm and never have I seen anyone to support the customer after 9pm. In fact the area representative had to himself come to my rescue this Tuesday when he came in his car and solved my problem. So much so for 24 hr support. And as for timely services are concerned, well I never had a visit within an hour of my call. They usually take 3-4 hours to respond and the solution has taken upto 22-26 hours. This when they claim to provide a new connection within 5 hours.
