Department of Telecom could fail to meet the latest 3G auction deadline
Economic Times has reported that the Indian Department of Telecom might fail to meet the latest deadline to auction the 3G spectrum.
The report said that the DoT has still started work on preparing for the auction in December this year.
It was expected to release all the relevant details related to the availability of the spectrum by last month.
The data is yet to be released to interested parties.
The Information Memorandum was to contain data on “availability of radio frequencies across circles, policy changes, the rules of the auction and mode of payment among several other issues”.
Looks like mobile users in India would have to wait for some more time before the private players can launch their 3G services.
We personally believe India should skip 3G to move to the next level. LTE is the way to go.
