TRAI considering making per second billing mandatory for all mobile service providers
CNBC has reported that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India is now considering making it mandatory for all mobile service providers in the country to offer per second billing.
Tata DOCOMO started this trend in India by letting customers pay per second of mobile usage.
JS Sarma, Chairman, Trai has been quoted as saying: “We are looking at the possibility of making service providers offer to consumers per second pulse as a mandatory option to be provided. Hopefully, in a month or a month-and-a-half we might like to come out with a consultation paper.”
Per second billing could reduce mobile bills for a lot of customers who end up paying for a complete minute of usage even if the conversation lasted a few seconds.
