Airtel launches tweetSMS for Twitter users in India

Twitter is targeting the massive mobile market in India with a deal with Airtel.

Airtel is one of the largest mobile service providers in India. They have just announced their tweetSMS service.

tweetSMS would enable Airtel users to connect to Twitter using their mobile devices.

Airtel spoke about this deal: “India is likely to become the largest market for Twitter very soon and this service should be a huge catalyst”.

They now have an exclusive deal to offer SMS based Twitter connectivity in India.

Airtel would charge Rs. 1 for the SMS based Tweeting. It might not be as cheap as connecting to Twitter using a mobile device with internet connectivity but still, it is a good alternative for most.
