Chicken and Egg situation!
Sify Broadband April 23rd, 2004
So, the local CTO is not interested in investing in a stable network unless there are more clients. So, the Sify people think I am in sector 2 and not in Sector 6. So, the Sify people thinks that I am a pain in the ass? Oh, cut the last part. That was me not the Sify guys…
OK.
I am in sector 6 and not in sector 2.
The nearest tower is supposedly in Sector 6 only that comes to around 300-400 meters (as mentioned to me by your own linesman). And please tell your CTO to not make false claims while offering services in the name of Sify, coz he derogates your name not his.
I have been online 24×7 more than an year now. And of those 12-13 months 11 have been on lan based connections. And in my experience Sify is more unreliable (albeit fast and economical) than the last cto based internet I had. And no it was not a colony of people filled with maniacs like me. I was the only one in a colony of 200-300 houses who needed 24×7 internet. And I got response from the local cable guy’s people at 2-3 am in the morning. You have a call center that answers me, but that’s in chennai and all he can do is wait till the morning and forward the complaint to more nearer contact point.
And just for the records, the net went down again between the last mail I sent and this mail.
And as for less customers in this area are concerned. The way my net works, do you expect me to suggest it to anyone who comes to me for reports on performances on Sify broadbad? You don’t get customers unless you have a decent network. and if your CTO thinks he will wait for fiber cables till he has more customers, then well it’s a chicken and egg situation.
Regards,
Sushubh
