Iqara: Worst Ever ISP I have ever used

After enjoying super broadband service in Singapore last 5 years. Recently when I returned to India, I wanted a broadband connection at home. To my horror situation here is so pathetic!! In my area Aundh pune it seemed to have only one service provider iqara (monopoly). Sify wasn’t there, BSNL started DSL just now. So I subscribed to Iqara unlimited plan. In my Opinion worst ever ISP service I have seen. Here are some highlights of pathetic service provider.

• They call 40/64 kbps unlimited connection a broadband and charge 900 for 40 kbps connection is really a joke.
• These guys call themselves a UK based best ISP provider.
• Rob customers by charging 1600 Installation charges ( I don’t know what the heck is installation charges and it seems that every service use this term to rob customers)
• At least couple of hour’s downtime every day.
• Download speed of 5 kbps is a joke.
• When change a plan you gotta wait for at least 7 days to resume the services , In which world these people are living?
• When you lodge complain to CC, technician calls you after 2 days and ask you to do basic trouble shooting, like restart machine, modem!! Common broadband users are not that idiots.
• Last month when my connection broke down I lodged complain to CS. It took three days for them to discover that someone has cut the cable and took another 3 days to fix it. * Sigh*. At the same time Guys came to me for renewal as service was to finish in 2 days time. Sooo when connection established they demanded that I must renew and pay upfront then only I can use the service. But then how about my 7 days of disruption of service?????? These guys really suck!!

Now Sify and BSNL is availed since last month. I didn’t bother to change the provider since it takes another 8 days to resume the services and anyway I will be moving to NY soon so I wont be needed any service. Overall I think there is terribly wrong with the service providers in India. 900 rs for 40 kbps connection is looting and nothing else. When there is cheap labor available and operating cost is so low, I just do not understand why these people are robbing customers. These guys wont enjoy it long for sure. Sometimes word of mouth is quite powerful and these players will pay the price when better alternatives are available.

I really feel for you guys

But lets hope that we get better service in future, which is value for money.

    Girish,
    You are lucky. You at least got the connection from Iqara. In my case the guys disappeared after collecting the money and issuing receipt.
    They collected the money in June 2004 and till date I am still waiting for an Internet connection. Looks like Iqara is a fly by night company.

    I agree with you. I am a customer with Iqara and have gone thru hell. Recent being. I put in a request to reset my email password. It has been 36 hrs. and no response yet. Every time I call the call center they tell me that it is under process. I think that they are a company in the Information Age business, with a STON AGE SUPPORT SERVICE.

    i agree with SUKUMAR that the guy RAHUL dissappeared after taking the money Rs 4102 & then tells me that they do not supply conections because it is too far away. in the first case why the hell did he take the deposite if he knew that he will not connect . however i kept after him & after about 15 days he returned the money with an apology by email.

    i now have the same connection by a gentleman name SAKET who went out of his way to provide me the connection by IQARA of one GIGA per month supposed speed 256kb/s but what i experience is abysymally low , maybe lower than 128kb/s.i really feel ripped off .

    I am going through hell since the day I got an Iqara connection. Everyday the net is down for a couple of hours, their call center works frm 9-5, (if there is a problem at night, no option but to just F*** O** and go to sleep), the executives at their call center’s are mostly illiterate, not knowing even the basic A B &C; of computing, I always end up mouthing bad words to them, Insulting them ,because, if I dont express my anger on them, that ire will eventually go down on my PC. You know what, they dont bother to call you for renewal reminders, all they do is disconnect the sevices and then it ultimately is on us to call them, beg and request them to Please come and renew the the account(they do not need customers). WORST EVER SERVICE EXPERIENCE of my life. Iqara is worse than what MTNL and BSNL were a few years ago, Pity on me guys, Sify too has no interest in adding new customers now, as I have requested them several times, but SIFY too has lost interest in generating new connections. They seem to be filthy rich too. Sify has its services in the adjacent building but upon several requests, they have not bothered to reply me in SECTOR-17, VASHI, Navi Mumbai.

    Yes, I agree with Girish. They have worst servive. They took installation charges in Dec 2004. But no one turn till Feb so I cancelled installation and after lot of complaints and calls I got my mone back in May 2005. There customer service is worst in India.
    But thank god, I atleast I got my money back.

    Sify is the worst service provider.I am really pissed of with there connection.

    After taking the connection i only got frustration ,tension and never got correct

    connection.

    Problems with sify:

    1 Not even a single day connection will be there fully
    2.My mobile bill for the complaint has gone more then the monthly recharge amount.
    3.The local operator ramesh is an a** ho**.
    4.After so much of complaints they will come and fix it up which will work only for

    couple of hours after that you should go again and call them up and waste you

    talktime more then 10 rs only for the hope that you can get connection after 2-3

    days which will work for another 2-3 hours.

    There is local operator Ganesh Cables(Rajajinagar,Bangalore).Please scold them on

    phone 94482817940.His owner Ramesh is M*** f***ker. i dont know how to sue them up.I

    have lost lot of money because of these people.Please let me know how can i screaw

    The service of the iqara is the worst than I have ever expirienced. I have problem of the speed and I started making complains on call center from 8th Aug 2005, Even after 1 month these people could not solve my problem

    i was a sify user in navi mumbai. Kharghar.. these people s*** ,when i got my connection i told them i was going to shift,they came to my new place and confirmed the connection now they say there are less connections in my new locality so i wont be provided with a connection, i was even ready the bear half the cost of getting the equipment set .. these people really screw my brains .. in a way we should boycott these conections to teach them a lesson..

    I am also a victim of the ISPs operating in India. It matters little to mention names because every one of them take you for a ride. The so-called ethical companies are not answerable if your business stops due to broad band lines being down. We always portray ourselves as an IT destination, we thump our chests from the rooftops to say we are advanced in our software development, etc. etc.
    But when it comes to accountability we are in the PITS. This will be the deciding factor for our country’s future.
    Our service providers, bureaucrats and people who matter must attend to this endemic problem on priority.
    Our nation is divided on innumerable issues, every one playing the EGO game and nobody wanting to take commitments and act responsibly.
    We can bully the weakest and most the vulnerable people to satisfy our egos.
    Example : If our lines are down we shout at the poor linesman or technician. The real problem or mess may be because of wrong decisions taken place by the seniors / owners of the ISPs / service providers or using substandard hardware.
    We really must work on our attitude and the will to fight the appropriate authorities.

    A dangerous situation for our country because we are then responsible to enhance frustration levels of innocent people and let the guilty go scot free.

    I recently bought this Tata indicom(VSNL) Broadband. And I would like to advice everybody to never do this mistake of selecting this ISP. Firstly they took more than 20 days to install broadband. And after 1 month still I am unable to connect. And the tech. supp. helpline as they call it. have just one answer when I call them.. Sir pls. wait for 24 hrs….. I wonder what does 24 hrs means to tata indicom VSNL Broadband.

    I’m writing this email out of pure disappointment and frustration as i would like to say that the experience I had with your customer service is disgusting and cant be called as to the standards.To make a long story short.
    I was proivded the VSNL broadband Hight speed with 256 kbs 500 MB user id rahulrgaikwad service as a complimentary trial for a month as at my place Sify internet is having the monopoly.So my surpirse the I found that Tata broad band was having a good speed and good features which i admit compared to “Sify”.As far as sify is concern they it is not a true high speed as the speed is low as per there advertisement.Anyways the Internet was setup and I enjoyed to be Tata broadband user for a month then in the month of April my account expired and I had to renew it.So i went forward using the Online renewal option rather than traditional Phone support.To my suprised I was using my HSBC credit card for the same.In the process my HSBC credit card was charged and the transaction finally completed after trying multiple times.I was provided the Pin and code no I tried to renew the account but it was not accepting the codes.So I called up customer service after a long 8 mi
    nutes on hold finally reached a Agent SriRam who told me that it would take sometime and fianlly after waiting for 30 minutes it was activated.I was happy.
    Then on 12 April 2006 I was checking my HSBC Account for my Credit card and to my suprised I was charged twice for renewal while using the internet renewal system but the transaction that was shown completed was one the other one was showing the status as order no”891003 2006-04-04 Surf 500 CC Pending(No info from Bank)”.I immediately called up customer service and to my suprised the gentleman told me that the “Money is not with then but with citbank which was the transcation bank and I have to called them to get my money back.”I told him that I can see my credit card online statement and it was showing me “Videsh Sanchar Nigam LTD Mumbai” after much debate he finally consulted is supervisor and logged a complaint for the amount to be credited back to my hsbc account Complaint no 36194851 dated 12/4/2006 and was told that I would get a call within 72 hours regarding the refund status and which I did got a call from a person saying that the amount was being cred
    ited to my account and the request was forwarded from the finance dept to my HSBC bank.I check the account for days to come still no amount was credited.In the mean while my account expired again and this time I renew the account again online hoping that I wont be charged twice and finally a pin and code no was generated but in the process of taking a note of the information the page expired and I was again left in the hand of your customer service.I gave a called in the earlier morning stating that during the renewal process the pin and code could not be taken and so required assistance,he on the contrary verifying the customer information told me that he would be needing my Order no for the transaction done by the bank this time it was my AMB Amro credit card and also said that the account will be active automatically.So i decided to wait until afternoon I rechecked my account but still no activation was done.So before calling Customer service i called my ABN Ambro credit c
    ard to get my order no and then called your Customer service.This time i was on hold for 8 good minutes and was attended by a Agent “Krishna I told him the issue he verified the information and informed me that the Account was active but I told him that I was unable to login to my account and I think I might have used a wrong password so request him to provided me with a new one.He again verified my customer information and asked me my secret question,I told him that if I was able to remember my secret question I would be able to login to my account which I m not so again requested him to provide me anew one to which the Agent started Arguing with me saying that he would not be able to provide me a new password without my secret question I told him that I had this issue earlier about the password typed incorrectly and so I called customer service that they provided my a new one after just customer verfication but did not ask my secret question.The agent insisted making me mor
    e frustrated,then I told him to give me a supervisor he told me that his supervisor was on call and I would take some time.I ask what was the time frame that we are looking he told me that he cannot tell that and I have to wait,as I was not having any options I told him it was fine and i was ready to wait,I was on hold for 12 minutes,the hold was taken for a quick 1 second to check that whether I was still on line but found that i was still on line so again was put onhold.Then on the 14 minute the “ALL WAS RELEASED”.This was poor customer service i was dissatisfied customer if the agent was compitent to handle the issue why is company like Tata hiring people like “rishna” who are rude dont know hold procedures,like of softskills and overall dont have the courtesy to give me a supervisor if he cannot handle the issue.Then i called again as I was not having any option was onhold again for 8 minutes and finally the call was answered by “AMIT” who verified the information and get
    ting the issue gave me a new password.I asked him about the earlier call as who answered my call he gave me the name AS “Krishna” asked about the interaction no he was reluctant to give me the no but after much hesitation he finally gave me the no as 251327920 13.24 pm.Finally i was able to use the internet,but the experience I had was bad.Still my refund issue is pending with you and each time I’m given a new complaint no 36194851/37088703/37661851/37660597.

    Finally I would like to sujest that a company like Tata should try to make the Customer Experience better and pleasant I sure do understand It is not always possible to solve customers problem at the very same time as somethings take time but atleast a followup should be given might be with emails for phone so that the customer is left in between and have to call again and again and put on hold for a long time.If one person is not able to understand and handle a call please give supervisor and dont release the call and I hope that the calls are recorded for Quality as company like TATA is known for its Quality so keep it up and dont lose on “Customer Experience” as that parameter will lose customers which make a company.I hope you wont ignore this as a usual email call me and let me know about the status of the refund,else i would have to take a harder approach.

    ting the issue gave me a new password.I asked him about the earlier call as who answered my call he gave me the name AS “Krishna” asked about the interaction no he was reluctant to give me the no but after much hesitation he finally gave me the no as 251327920 13.24 pm.Finally i was able to use the internet,but the experience I had was bad.Still my refund issue is pending with you and each time I’m given a new complaint no 36194851/37088703/37661851/37660597.

    Finally I would like to sujest that a company like Tata should try to make the Customer Experience better and pleasant I sure do understand It is not always possible to solve customers problem at the very same time as somethings take time but atleast a followup should be given might be with emails for phone so that the customer is left in between and have to call again and again and put on hold for a long time.If one person is not able to understand and handle a call please give supervisor and dont release the call and I hope that the calls are recorded for Quality as company like TATA is known for its Quality so keep it up and dont lose on “Customer Experience” as that parameter will lose customers which make a company.I hope you wont ignore this as a usual email call me and let me know about the status of the refund,else i would have to take a harder approach.

    I think comparing and other big ISP ,IQARA is good,because last one year im using iqara connection,i didnt faced any problem like you people are mentiont,i almost taken connection from all ISP ,i very happy with IQARA service,

    Clearly from the above discussion, India has a long way to go when it comes to providing reliable, cleap and fast broadband connectivity to the masses..

    Shame on you Tata, Sify, Iqara and the likes.. not to mention the govt. organizations like MTNL, VSNL, BSNL etc.

    I am tired with calling countless number of times Sify customer care as my internet isnt working for the last 2 months . Sify themselfes agree that there is a breakdown but never end up giving a solution for the same.

    PLs pls never ever recommend Sify for any of your freinds and even to your enemies.

    Well IQARA’s broadband service has gone to the dogs since the day they changed their name to Youtele.I have a 256 Kbps Iqara Angel Package. Till the last month I used to get speeds of about 25-28 KBps. But ever since they changed their name, I get miserable speeds of 2KBps and sometimes even less. When I call their call centre, they put the modem on for monitoring for the night. But nothing substancial ever happens. The guys at call centre tell me that I am getting the speeds according to my package plan. I wonder if 2KBps = 256kbps.
    I am completely fed up with the company and I will not renew my account after this package expires.
    According to their plans, I should get full sunday for browsing but on sunday the net never works. Its no use complaining to them as they say that the speed is distributed among their subscribers which is bullshit. I dont think they found a few million subscribers in a month which caused my speeds to drop drastically.
    I request all u guys NOT to accept their services cuz they are utter crap.
