After my awful experience with Sify, I decided to try out Tata Indicom. I was under the naive assumption that Sify’s franchise model and lack of any quality control on their franchisees is the reasons behind their pathetic existence. But Tata Indicom proved me wrong – they showed that even owning your own network with your own people managing it, is no reason to provide a bare minimum level of service.
Here is my track record with Tata Indicom Broadband.
 1. I applied for a connection on 10th of June, and paid money for their router based connection. I finally got it installed and working on 28th or 29th. Almost three weeks to get a connection! That is pathetic by any ISPs service. However, I was happy that my connection was up at least.
 2. For about 10 days the connection went well.
 3. From the third week onwards I started seeing losses in the last mile. I started actively monitoring the line quality using smokeping. Here is the graph for those few days.
 4. I file a complaint. There was a person here next day, and for a moment i was impressed. However, the impression was shortlived. The tech support guy listened to what I had to say, looked at my graphs, didn’t believe me, and started a ping from my computer to the local DSLAM peer. He saw the losses in line and said that he will escalate it to his senior.(Couldn’t this have been checked from the NOC itself?). But what happened later was priceless. The guy sat there at the computer and logged into his company trouble ticketing system and started making notes of his assignments for the rest of his day. After 15 minutes, I decided that I have been polite enough and told him to take his personal work elsewhere. He asked for two more minutes, and left after that.
 5. On 24th July, my line went down completely. I waited for it to come up, and finally filed a complaint on 25th morning that my link was down. What happened next was surreal. I kept calling up customer care, and they kept promising to send a reminder to the tech team, and assured that the problem will be solved with 24 hours. It has been eight 24 hours since then, and connection is still down. In between I got two calls from some lady who wanted to ask me independently if it is still down, and promised to send a guy to my place. I kept myself to the house all day, but nobody appeared.
 6. Today morning I got a call from another guy who asked me if my complaint about the losses in line(filed two weeks back) has been solved. If he had been physically in front of me, I would have strangled him.
What I didn’t realize while taking the connection, was that Tata Indicom Broadband is just Dishnet DSL with a new name, and it comes with Dishnet DSL’s renowed or shall we say notorious service record. Right now, in my last five weeks of subscription, the line has been unusable for two – that makes it a 20% downtime!
Oh yes, for all those on a bandwidth capped plan, watch out for Tata Indicom’s totally screwed up IP accounting! Thank good ness that I have an unlimited connection. Their account system actually shows that I have downloaded 5GB in these last five weeks that I have been a subscriber(remember? that I have actually used it for about two weeks?) The only heavy downloads I do is debian, windows and anti-virus security updates! And this is priceless – on 25th, when i filed a complaint about my line being down (which they acknowledged), I am supposed to have downloaded 150MB of data. Ofcourse, my reporting this got me another trouble ticket number, which I am pretty sure is right down in their list of priorities. But for those on a bandwidth capped account from them, … my sympathies.
I am again in the market looking for a good DSL provider, and I see none in the capital of the country! Keeping my fingers crossed, I looked at MTNL’s plans again .. but no, they still haven’t changed their laughable download limits in their plans (256kbps with a bandwidth cap of 400MB, anyone?)
Meanwhile I am spending hundreds every day on the dialup again, for the last one week.

I totally agree with you as far as the Tata Indicom (VSNL) broadband is concerned. I am at Thane, and was compelled to take a Prepaid pack (since they do not offer postpaid in Thane at present).
The connection was installed on the 11th July in the evening at aprox 6 p.m. Even during the installation, I commented that the system was too open (I could see my computer addresses clashing with other systems outside my office).
The next day I couldn’t get it working for quite some time (due to the large number of switches between the node and my computer) after which it started working. But the moment it did so, My antivirus started popping up every now and then informing me of a new virus attack. (This was from the other systems on the same switch as mine). Finally, the network has been down since the last 12 days and I’m hearing from the helpline every day that an engineer is comping to fix the line To no effect.
The downtime has already been approx 50% or more with no solution in sight. I’m definately junking the line.
Far better than that is the MTNL connection (dial up) which comes to u for Rs 500/- per month unlimited usage (500 is the rental for a new line to be laid solely for internet outgoings and no call charges) along with a six month unlimited prepaid account of theirs which costs you 150 per month so effectively you are paying approx 650 / month for unlimited usage. the only issue is the speed which is betweeen 40~48 Kbps. The downtime is also very very minimal (approx 1 or 2 days in 1 year. Slow but steady and cost effective.

From my experience I agree with comments of Hari above. I booked Tata broadband connection thru’ their franchisee at NOIDA on 30th of July by paying full amount by cheque. Till this day I have not heard any thing from these guys (who otherwise promised to put up connection within one week). No one bothered to even contact me . I had called the several times but nothing happened . It’s surprising how a company with BRAND as big as TATA could behave like a small time thief and took away money without ever bothering to even reply or contact. SHAME MR. RATAN TATA!!

Whenever their customer service is to be contacted, you never get them over phone easily, even if you get connected, it takes atleast 15 minutes to get hooked to the call centre guys who are mindless of our plight except to keep promising us to solve the problem within a week with range of excuses-Cable laying could not be completed due to cable contractors strike, Connections up to my area have been achieved and it will take couple of days to get the connection realized etc. Fed up with their excuses, I asked for refund of the payment but still nothing has come up.

It does not connect most of the times and you call their doomed customer support, those bastards will tell you that it will be rectified within or after 24 hours :). I am residing in chennai. I called up sify for getting a new broadband connection. But that was a prerecorded voice which asked me to give my contact no. I recieved the call from sify after two days. The official over the other end asked my house address and told me that their sales person will come to my house. But till now i didn’t get any updates from their side.

you would be screwed out of shape if you opt for tata broadband. Don’t think I would get back my security money too…..can anybody advise me how to go about it. Planning to opt for mtnl’s TriB AA….let’s hope they are ok….keeping my fingers crossed.

Please remember. This is India ruled by cheats and private bandits. BSNL is also no good as from my experience. I have a BB connection from them. Though they charge Rs 500 under their Home Plan, which is meant for browsing time (24 hours) they in fact calculate their download and upload limit from the time you start your net connection and visit a web page till you disconnect without understanding the terms download and upload which actually mean import of any programme, image, film, song etc to your hard disk and export of the same to the hard disk of another computer respectively.
Thus, I got bills for Rs 937, 2582, 7852 etc though I did not download/upload the amount of KB they have indicated under their Service Records (www.dataone.com) which in fact is the actual browsing time and the downloaded/uploaded KBs. Thus it is a breach of trust to charge Rs 500/= every month as well as again for the total browsing time you are on the net that includes your downloading/uploading KBs too.
If you go to Airtel they also promise a lot but you will end up with 56kbps of dial up ultimately. Hence use dialup and avail of their free downloading/uploading at night hours.

I don’t think I’ve had more than 5 hours of downtime TOTAL since the service has been installed, inspite of the fact that there are three heavy internet users at my residence (out of which I also run my business). I had opted for the 128K unlimited plan, and the bandwidth has *never* dropped below 120 if I had a decent server to download from.
Also recently, Airtel upgraded all their connections with no additional cost to the user. My connection is now a 256K unlimited, and I am extremely impressed by their service.
For all those of you who’ve had bad experiences with other ISPs, please do give Airtel a shot. I believe they are a little more expensive than other providers, but they more than make up for it. Of course, I don’t know if my case has been the exception rather than the rule, but thats the impression I have.

The top mails is the final one , and at the bottom is the first , please go through it from the bottom , to understand the grand failure called TATA VSNL Broadband has made of the customer expectations !The subject of the mails is :Re: 2377163 , 2357672, 2386223 – Engineer visited ! and the mail was copied to every contact id i could find on their website .The ids are :Customer Service, customercare.ap@tatatel.co.in, customercare.del@tatatel.co.in, customercare.guj@tatatel.co.in, customercare.kar@tatatel.co.in, csmumbai@tatatel.co.in, customercare.tn@tatatel.co.in, contact@tatanet.co.in , and after sending all these mails , i got nowhere for approximate 9 days , and 2 of the cases were closed without even calling me to enhance their own internal closure rates !
Yes i will get a refund and will never advise anyone to take their pathetic connection !
Tripuresh Tiwari , an engineer ( i can’t believe) , called up saying that the net is finally working ! According to him , it is his 3 rd visit , and other than that he has no information on my case .As i am totally dissatisfied with the support promised by tata vsnl . Hence take back the connection and refund the money on priority .I have no wish to continue with your services , which have added more frustration than solutions .

I wonder how such rediculous claims can be made after ignoring the calls i have made to the pune center and wasting 150 rupees on calling them to clear their own mess. I know i stay in Delhi and that is very far from Mars , from where someone , someday will come to resove the issue ! Till then i will use my mtnl line at 12.5 kbps .

It would have been appreciated if there was any honesty in such mails as offered by your distant / remote claims .The conerned department and even your department are all the same , when it comes to poor management and irresponsible conduct . 20% of the time ur service does not work and shows h/w fault . 3 times i get contradictory statements , that the link is on or not and finally , a team leader refuses to take ownershipby saying that he can not call back !! What do i think of u? do u really want to know? I think that u people are the coolest and the most amazing lousy professionals when it comes to giving excuses and sending rediculous mails mentioning concerned department and action plans without any timelines !!

The top mails is the final one , and at the bottom is the first , please go through it from the bottom , to understand the grand failure called TATA VSNL Broadband has made of the customer expectations !The subject of the mails is :Re: 2377163 , 2357672, 2386223 – Engineer visited ! and the mail was copied to every contact id i could find on their website .The ids are :Customer Service <customerservice>, customercare.ap@tatatel.co.in, customercare.del@tatatel.co.in, customercare.guj@tatatel.co.in, customercare.kar@tatatel.co.in, csmumbai@tatatel.co.in, customercare.tn@tatatel.co.in, contact@tatanet.co.in , and after sending all these mails , i got nowhere for approximate 9 days , and 2 of the cases were closed without even calling me to enhance their own internal closure rates !
Yes i will get a refund and will never advise anyone to take their pathetic connection !
Tripuresh Tiwari , an engineer ( i can’t believe) , called up saying that the net is finally working ! According to him , it is his 3 rd visit , and other than that he has no information on my case .As i am totally dissatisfied with the support promised by tata vsnl . Hence take back the connection and refund the money on priority .I have no wish to continue with your services , which have added more frustration than solutions .

I wonder how such rediculous claims can be made after ignoring the calls i have made to the pune center and wasting 150 rupees on calling them to clear their own mess. I know i stay in Delhi and that is very far from Mars , from where someone , someday will come to resove the issue ! Till then i will use my mtnl line at 12.5 kbps .

I had last posted on 30th September, the day I finally got rid of Tata Broadband to opt for MTNL Trib AA scheme.
MAN ! MTNL seems to be good as of now. Genuine 256 kbps till the user point…..no last mile bull crap or “frequent disconnection” or “no connection”.
I am seriously contemplating legal action against Tata Broadband. If not legal, then at least a solid complaint to the Consumer Forum about the fraud establishment this company is owning and operating. I also have suffered financial loss directly as the broadband connection catered primarily to my on-line trading activities.
No such probs with MTNL. Me thinks, both MTNL and Airtel have got their acts together in this biz and have been able to provide for something that is required.

You may send your personnel to collect the â??modemâ?? with prior intimation.
Please note, in the event of undue delay in reimbursing the security deposit, I would be forced to forward my complaint to the â??consumer forumâ??.
It is indeed a matter of shame that I had to endure this pathetic experience from such a renowned business house as that of the TATAs, and at least hope that the refund is made available without any teething troubles.

My experience with TATA Indicom broadband has been great. I have been using it since one and half month and I stay online for more than 14 hrs a day. And till date the line has never been down. No disconnections; one click connectivity and speed is just amazing.I use 64 Kbps unlimited connection and get a great transfer rate of 15KBps download and 16KBps as upload. Its simply great. I dont know how you guys have problems with it.

My experience with Broadband in Delhi….I share the same experiences with everyone for Hathway, Sify, VSNL (Tata Internet Broadband). None of these is reliable. What is lacking is that they all ride on a very weak and unreliable last mile (which means the line which brings the connection to your home/office), whereas their network uses the more reliable Wireless or Fiber optics network from the service provider to their POPs in different territories. Airtel has a much better underground last mile but they take a long time to rectify the problem, but the failure frequency is normally low. What we require is the ISPs provide the last mile only through WiFi (hot spots) in your areas, or use copper on fiber optics , with so much fiber laid across Delhi and capacity being unused!!. The problem needs to be addressed by the ISP Association ISAPI and DOT (which has done a great thing by regulating tarriffs and bringing down the cost of Broadband, but not much to regulate the Quality of service which they lay down in writing in the SLAs . Again a question of good intention and poor planning and even poorer implementation. Till that time, we will go on suffering like this, and soon consumer forums will be full of complaints from harrassed ISP customers.I hope that ISPAI and ISPs and DOT is listening.

At the payment of money, he promised me that the connection will be enabled within 14 days. Still itâ??s a long duration for me, I agreed upon that contract.
At the same time I gave application to my previous broadband vendor to disconnect the connection within a period of 14 days which been offered by TATA.
The days went off. I was continuously contacting the executives and the technical guys of TATA Indicom. But after taking money from me, what they were telling is, there is no feasibility for giving me the connection, since the distance is more from their exchange.
But am sure it comes under the specifications given by them only and why they hesitates to give connection is only because am the first person in that street who is applying for such a connection. So they had to draw new connection.
But what I felt is that itâ??s a sort of gambling from the connection providers that they were telling such a reason after taking money from me. They were not even bothered to give me my money back at all.

I have been facing frequent problems and despite my complaints, tataindicom broadband services is not waking up.
Before I state the complaints please understand we are not a novice! we know our onions well and know networking inside out (ask your engineers who visit us) – we know how to clean up cookies, delete temp files, restart computer so that your services may function ( But we still cant understand why we need to do that at all ???)
1) The connection breaks frequently, we are using this connection in our office sharing it over a proxy, the connection node is at our common server, if there is no activity on that server ( and why should there be any activity on the server?) The session times out in 600 seconds.
Why should it timeout for an unlimited connection??? We want uninterrupted service that we were used to getting from mtnl dial up unlimited – once we logged in the morning – we would only log out in the night. Period.
2) You obviously did not take tabbed browsing into consideration when you designed this service, most browser – firefox, opera, even IE7(to be released), deepnet use tabbed browsing. If we open a tabbed browser without logging in Your broaband page takes over every tabbed page with no “back”, imagine losing 30 pages to your broadband page. If you are promoting IE then forgot it, it is the most backdoor ridden, trojan holed browser available today . Please get your act together on this and forget the pop up page, we have anyway barred all pop ups.
3) Your service keeps on wanting us to “pay” – renew your account is what we have seen twice in last 15 days for a full day at stretch – more so when our account will expire in April 06. and on top of that there is no reimbursement for the day lost for your mistake (Read your billing section mistake)
4) Your service sleeps off, for 5 minutes at a stretch, frequently during the day, then appears magically, we dont know where it goes off to – sleeping may be.
Now I am going to send this email but I will first check through IE whether the connection is still there, then pray that this email goes.
(when I checked in IE your service was not there , see how good I have become at this game)

Tata Indicom(VSNL) is one of the worst ISPs in India. The customer service is beyond apallable. They have a 24hour customer service just for namesake but nothing ever gets done.
I have a 512kbps connection from VSNL which has a limit of 1 GB. For the past 2 months I have faced abnormal usage on my account. The usage occured EVEN THOUGH MY MODEM WAS SWITCHED OFF !
After innumerable complaints, the matter is still not fixed. Morever, they have charged me more than Rs. 3000 for 2 months, even though I have used far less than the 1 GB limit.
I think there is a serious security problem with router connections. I found this out recently. VSNL calculates your bandwidth used by your IP Address. They DO NOT verify your username or password when you connect to the Internet. Therefore, it is as simple as changing your router’s public IP Address to someone else’s, and voila it works.
The technical competence of the VSNL staff is really abysmal and I would warn all existing customers to be aware of this issue. Anyone could use your account without having to do much.

My telephone line had some issue, due to which they could not setup the link, but my telecon and chats with their service team was superb and the JTO (N.Prakash, Line man Ibrahim and co) were simply the BEST i have ever met. They promised me and lived up to the expectations.

DO Not use TATA INDICOM Brodband Service, I was a customer from T/I Brodband more than 3 years, and after that changed to ARITEL Broadband service-Belive me it is good service, Customer Sercice is really good, they will taught me incase of router link failure, Like how to configure router according to your choice and most important point is- THERE SERVICE IS UNDERLINE CABLE so no matter for line cut-off or some thing else.
Inrespect of TATA brodband, their customer service executives are all bunch of jokers, they will commited you false and fake statement which is absouletly rediculas, and their cable connections are overhead and as a result line will got disconnected frquently due to wind,rain,thief.

I am also a prey for tata indicom ridiculuous service. Inspite of several hassles i was connected with broadband. That too from day1 it takes minutes to browse a site like yahoo. I complained on that it was already 4 days but no response. I too am a person who has been deeply anguished by services of TATA INDICOM and been trying to get a mail id of Ratan Tata or anyone else (like his PA) who can seek 2 mts of his time to read my complaint to him. The sad thing is I have been more anguished by the fact that a well known brand like TATA that has exhuded confidence, belief and happiness for so many people for so many years is now being spoilt by people working for the group. These are more painful for me as a lot of senior members of my family have at some point or the other worked with TISCO & TELCO and have been proud of it. In fact even I have grown up being prowd of this. But today I have personally seen others in three parts of the country – Delhi Mumbai and Cochin speaking in disgusting tones about the brand. This removed the self assurance that I had given myself that delhi could be an isolated incidence. If anybody responsible and very highly placed in Tatasons sees this, I request you to respond or even send me a contact (direct or indirect) so that I could present my case without washing dirty linen in public. Please do not respond if you are even at the top level of mid-management as i have experienced these at higher levels in the company. I believe today that i the only person/s who could really be concerned about the brand TATA are either the family itself or the stakeholders sitting at the topmost levels and professionally active in the group.

I have gone back to the Golden Era of Sify whose service is not as erratic as yours trust me. There time for resolving the issue is quite quicker then yours and their helpline takes 2 mins maximum to reach out their CCE.
Calling uo tata help line takes atleast 15 calls ” your approx wait time is more then 12 mins so call again laters” and then 25 mins for cce to come online. That makes the calculation roughly to 50 rs everytime getting connecting for help. and the cost of broad band becomes so high that one has to think twice before calling help line.
To add more to it there is no one called as responsible in your customer feedback team to revert and despite sending some 15-20 mails. Not even a single mail is replied to. The harasment the customer has to go through is really very high.
Your down time exceeds all limits and has broken all the records till date or should i put it as it has been the best disconnection of broadband i have ever got.I would like to bring in record that other than the frequent disconnections, which was a major irritant, from 9th may 2006 there was no signal. Complaints with your customer service were lodged continuously over a period of 24 days, but to no avail. The service guy comes sees the connection and tells me that see sir its working fine and then when he is gone the connection also starts to flicker like a candle light and then goes away and then again its the process of getting connected to help line and this vicious cycle keeps on repeating for some time and after some time the some pple in the circle go out and then there is only a the customer and the help line and no one else appears.
I am also forwarding this mail to all known guys in IT industry here in Ahemdabad. Lets hope they dont make there customers run away becuase of the pathetic service experience i have gone through.
I have renewed my connection with sify also.

What do i think of u? do u really want to know? I think that u people are the coolest and the most amazing lousy professionals when it comes to giving excuses and sending rediculous mails mentioning concerned department and action plans without any timelines !!

I am an “unfortunate†customer of TATA INDICOM from VSNL. My login id is guptakr@eth.net . You might be wondering as to why I refer to myself as “unfortunateâ€. The reason is because I had the mistake of taking 24 hours broadband connection from VSNL on 18 may 2005. Firstly the installation took more than 4 weeks after my payment in the month of April 2005.After that almost every week I have to complain to customer service about no link/ unable to browse/slow speed etc. In a span of one year I have made close to 60 complains( 3 in the last 5 days)! This speaks a lot about the service. Calling up the customer service is again a check on one’s patience as the average time of waiting is 10-12 minutes; it is only after that one is able to speak to acustomer service executive who would promise to resolve the complain “within 24hours†provided it is a weekday ! If it is a weekend then the people would be off duty (after all it is service industry!).This is the first customer service number (55500121)that I have seen which on dialing ,you get a message”Number does not exist!)I would highly appreciate if someone could enlighten me on the following points so that I would know what to expect and what not to expect from such highly esteemed organization
1) Q1 ) How many days in a week/ month should the 24 hours connection not work?
2) Q2) How much time should a customer wait after calling up customer care? )
3) Q3) If the customer care executive can not resolve your recurring problem would there be anyone else in the hierarchy to whom the customer can talk to? .On a very few occasions I have been very fortunate to speak to the floor supervisors who have been of no help either. Generally I have been told that floor supervisors are busy in a meeting, at times even late at night!)
4) Q4) If the connection stops working on Saturday afternoon can it not be restored before Monday?
Q5) If the internet connection is always at a less than the promised 256 kbps at times as low as 150 kbps would it still qualify to be called a broadband?
I had the honour of making 3 Complains in the last 5 days for non avalability of service. I have lost out on my patience by making so many calls which on an average lasts around 15 minutes. Although my father had a very high regard for Tata &VSNL and was instrumental in our taking this connection now even he is lost all respect for this organisation which now neither works as a govt. body nor as a private sector player, it has taken worse of both the worlds .

Guess I also have only negatives to add to this bunch. I had applied for a connection from Mr.Gupta in BTM 1st stage.He assured me that the connection will be up and running in 7 working days(I applied on 27-05-2006)and till date there is no connection and nobody has come to my place yet.
Called up the customer care(should have time to do this because average wait time for some “angel” to pick up the receiver varies from 10-20 min) and they did not find the details of my application in the database!
I had paid with a cheque which was cashed on 5th working day after I had submitted the application (02-06-2006) and the customer care did not have the details of the cheque either.
After repeated arguments with the customer care, a Mr.Rajesh said that he will send a mail to Bangalore office with all the details but I have not received any update(this happened on 07-06-2006 or 08-06-2006 ).
On the top of it, Mr.Gupta has now STOPPED receiving my calls!!
AFter trying his number for 2 days incessantly, somebody picked it up finally after I tried it for the 7th time in a row and said that he was out of station and had left his cell behind (the voice seemed like Mr.Gupta’s own though).
My money is gone down the drain for sure but
I would request everybody around NOT TO GO FOR TATA INDICOMM connection.
You will just end up frustrated.

I would like to share my horrifying experience with TATA INDICOM.
I got a TATA INDICOM Landline (080 56999107)Connection in October 2005. I asked for an Internet Plan, but they put me in single rate plan. The bill amount that came was 2000/- Then I asked them for 700/- millenium plan(Unlimited Download with 1 GB free download), then the next month bill which I was expecting to be within 750 came around 2000. Then I lodged a complaint.They claimed that I am in Single Rate plan and would call back telling .. I am billed accordingly..Then I asked for an itemized bill and even narrated them that my bill shows that i am in Millenium plan,then a person by name Vidhya called me and told me to pay 600/-, the units i used was 3998 units. The next month I was expecting around 750. When I got a bill for 6716/- They said the units was 2123 which means I have used 2123 MB of data transfer and after a discount of 1 GB , they have charged 5/- per MB and hence the bill is 6716.When I lodged a complaint back, they ignored my complaint. They did nt respond afterwards..My credit limit was just 1000/-, so i asked them why they did not intimate me in advance.After 2 months a person called Harsha (9243199169) contacted me. Then I asked Harsha for an itemized bill, then he called me to their office in Koramangala and I talked to the Manager Arjun then one more person showed the itemized bill it in the system . I asked them how they calculate how much usage I do per day and he saidas they said they could not get a print out of it.. I asked him how they calculate the usage, for which he said they system itself calculates, so my bill amount is correct.Then I asked them to give a break up of the bill in terms of how much MB I have used in a day. For which they said they would mail it to my e-mail id. Then after that there was no response from them.
After 2 weeks a person by name Arun from Tata Indicom called me and said that I can surrender the instrument if I am not using them. Then when he came to collect the instrument he asked me to pay 700 + 700 for 2 months as he said I used the connection.When I said no , he asked me to pay atleast 500/-. Then I asked him to produce the itemized bill with break up in MB and I would pay him immediately, he said he cant give it.This happened last month(May 2006). Now recently I got a mail from TATA INDICOM Legal Dept Sanjeev A Kumar for ordering me to pay 7615 as it is outstanding from December 2005. If I dont pay I have to face legal charges for non payment of the bill.This I find ridiculous, when my complaint about the bill payment is now over from their end , how could they send me such a threatining mail..Can anyone help me in how to proceed further. How do I approach the consumer court and put them in trouble.

I am facing same problems with Tata Indicom broadband!! Bloody assholes harrased me for paying in advance for connection! I paid for their 64 kbps line unlimited plan for 6 months in advanced.
They promiced me to give connection in 7 days. Now its over 40 days and still there is no connection. After a month r so, their engineer came and fixed up modem and line and asked me to convert my existing dial-up ID to broadband so I can get 50 mb mail box. So I did. After that both the accounts were locked for 2 days. I was not able to receive my regular business emails even on dial-up.
I fought with them hard, so they atlease started bak my dial-up account but till this date they have not activated my broadband connection, god knows why?
Their customer service is another issue. If you call up their service in Pune, it asks you to always call back as the wait time is 99% above 10 to 12 mins. If you still hang on, then after 10 mins there representative comes. Every time new one. So you have to repeat all the things again and again. Then all they do is to tell you that they have forwarded compaint and within 24 to 48 hrs, I will receive a call from their technical team. I never did.
I am so fade up witht them so I really used bad language one day and have asked them to cancel my connection, but till date there is no refund.
Now i am thinking of going to Police for fraud.
I did not know they are so pathetic!!!
I have reliance connection at my office and that is the BEST! Immidiate connection, 750 rs for 150 kbps , unlimited dl. Hardly any down time. dl speeds at 18 kbps. and v good customer service and we are provided with direct access to a corporate liason. I am to happy with them. I wish they put lines fast in my resedencial area!!
I am facing same problems with Tata Indicom broadband!! Bloody assholes harrased me for paying in advance for connection! I paid for their 64 kbps line unlimited plan for 6 months in advanced.
They promiced me to give connection in 7 days. Now its over 40 days and still there is no connection. After a month r so, their engineer came and fixed up modem and line and asked me to convert my existing dial-up ID to broadband so I can get 50 mb mail box. So I did. After that both the accounts were locked for 2 days. I was not able to receive my regular business emails even on dial-up.
I fought with them hard, so they atlease started bak my dial-up account but till this date they have not activated my broadband connection, god knows why?
Their customer service is another issue. If you call up their service in Pune, it asks you to always call back as the wait time is 99% above 10 to 12 mins. If you still hang on, then after 10 mins there representative comes. Every time new one. So you have to repeat all the things again and again. Then all they do is to tell you that they have forwarded compaint and within 24 to 48 hrs, I will receive a call from their technical team. I never did.
I am so fade up witht them so I really used bad language one day and have asked them to cancel my connection, but till date there is no refund.
Now i am thinking of going to Police for fraud.
I did not know they are so pathetic!!!
I have reliance connection at my office and that is the BEST! Immidiate connection, 750 rs for 150 kbps , unlimited dl. Hardly any down time. dl speeds at 18 kbps. and v good customer service and we are provided with direct access to a corporate liason. I am to happy with them. I wish they put lines fast in my resedencial area!!
I cant believe! a company like TATA INDICOMBROADBAND (VSNL)is dependent on bloody Local Cable Operators for installation and delevery of prepaid packages.I never got my prepaid pack on time whenever i required.Its pathetic!!!!! and really shamefull

I just want to know when can I get my issues resolved, or should I say will I get this issue resolved.

They have unlimited usage plans, they have one day service, they collect ur bill from homes for no extra charge. U will never face any problem & even if u do they repair it today itself or definately by 2moro. I have to say i am using Airtel from past 2 years now. I had 64kb unlimited plan then 128kb unlimited and now 256kb unlimited and i have never had major problem or any problem which was not repiared within 24 hours. I just had problem with my router which was replaced for no extra cost, other then that i cant remember any break downs i faced.

It is to inform that my above mention connection is in a non working position from last 108hrs now; I have registered my complaint on 5th July 06 at 10:45pm. Due to this I have been suffering from lot of mental torture and loss of business heavily in monetary terms.
The best part about the entire episode is I have given 12 reminder calls to your customer care department and spoken to many irresponsible people like Hemant, Ganesh Pathak, Razza (he banged phone on me), seema, swati, ved, Abras (all CCE’s) and one of the supervisors Rinky Sen; but every body just assured me that they have send strong reminders to the technical team and the issue will be resolved in next 12 hrs, but every thing in vain. No body from any department even bothered to give me a call for once.
Above all the great Mr. Hemant lawaniya (Manager Operations as told for customer service) was not available in office form last two days and even doesn’t have time to talk to me for once. After asking for continuous appointment to speak to him from different executives and asked many times to give me a call back for once, this fellow didn’t call me up. I don’t understand that how your organization has hired people like him who don’t understand the ‘C’ of customer service.
I think that It would be very shameful to your organization to phase the legal proceeding before the court of consumer forum in reference to the complaint launched by me.
But anyhow you have forced me to do this and realize the amount of compensation regarding the mental torture and monetary loss occurred to me due to your negligence.
Still, I hope that you will send me a written apology regarding the same to me and get the connection working without any loss of time.

Same here, I just feel cheated by this Tata Indicom Guys. They layed out a cable within 2 days of me applying for it and I felt that their network ois really good. But this latsted only for couple of days as I had to get behind them to configure the network. After lot of calls being made to them their engineer called me up and asked me to configure the router and other network stuff on phone, And yes the internet stared working but the line was down within couple of days…and I have been calling up their customer care since then…I have already spent hundreds of rupees calling up these guys and the issue is not resolved. It has been more than a week nothing has been confirmed from their side…I feel like kicking myself for not having done the proper homework…I should have had checked on the internet about their service…and I am doing it now. So Please let your friends know wbout this and let them not fall Trap to these guys….

You people were telling ur tataindicom broadband speed experience and i m sharing u my awful experience with tataindicom. In july, 2006 i had applied for the broadband connection thru internet cos according to them they are fully automated and they do as per so called hi-tech industry norms and as per them customers no need to keep on wasting their money in long Q in order to speak with the customer care so they had started solving all the query thru internet. So, I had also filed up a form in order to avial the broadband connectivity from the website http://myaccount.tataindicombroadband.in/MyAccount/ApplyNow.do. The system generated a enquiry no. for me which was 879165 and i had been asked to wait for next 72 hours meanwhile their sales and technical team will do the concern enquiry regarding the connection availabity and parameters in my area. but that 72 hours never came. they keep me on waiting.. i had written alot of mails but no reply even i had spoked with theh customer care but again they promise me to wait for 72 hours and then nothing had happened. Then i had re-registered myself for the broadband connection with my enquiry no. 868874 and imagine what the same story. now from july it is august but their 72 hours never came when i had complained them suddenly one day i got a shocking e-mail from the customerservise stating that i had requested to the sales teams to cancel my broadband connection. I was about to faint when i read this pathetic weired and stupid type of email from them and then i again wrote a email to them and spoke with the customer care keeping my vocal cord voice very raised and hard. I have read the pathetic experience of Tata broadband users. I am one of the victim and suffering like many others. I have not seen such a hopeless service provider. Complaints are not attended at all although the call centre personnel assure resolving problem within 24 hours. In case you have any enemy, I would suggest recommending Tata Broadband to him. Using Tata broadband is the biggest punishment one can ever have.

i FULLY AGREE WITH THE INFO.THE SERVICE PROVIDER ARE “HEADLESS CHICKENS” OR THE OSTRICHES HIDING THEIR HEAD IN SAND AND PROMISING ALL KINDS AFTER MAKING US WAIT FOR TWO MINUTES POSING AS THE LINE IS BUSY AND COMPELLING US TO LISTEN TO THEIR ADS EVERY TIME WE CAL THEM. THEIR THE MOST INEFFICIENT SERVICE PROVIDER.WILL SOMEBODY BRING THIS TO THEIR NOTICE AS THEY THEMSELF WILL NOT CARE TO LOOK IN TO. I use Barti Aitel broadband. .The broad band speed is average but stable and the customer service is better than others. My friends told me that BSNL also equally good.
