NTL offers 10Mbps as its standard broadband speed
NTL has become the first major UK ISP to offer 10Mbps as its standard broadband speed. With this achievement, they have become the first major UK ISP to breakthrough the 8Mbps barrier. This upgrade means that all the 1.5 million customers of this ISP would be getting this new speed package for free as soon as the scheme is implemented.
The company won’t be charging any additional monthly fee, beginning with its current 3Mbps subscribers. In addition, Users will also be able to choose a usage allowance, priced accordingly, to match their requirements. NTL also provides a tool to monitor the usage of the Internet connection and would also be giving an uncapped option.
The company would be upgrading the speeds before the end of the year. And they would be giving an additional bonus to their 3Mbps subscribers and their usage limit would be raised to 75GB per month from the current limit of 30 GB. The upgrade for the entire network should be complete by the next year and the company should also be able to start their merger with the UK’s other cable operator, Telewest.
Simon Duffy, NTL’s CEO said in a statement: “Our broadband services will become amongst the most innovative in the world and certainly well ahead of anything else in the UK. This is a major step towards delivering Britain’s digital future.â€
