BSNL drops Broadband Rates

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has dropped the rates of their broadband service popularly known as the BSNL DataOne Broadband. The cut in the rates is 50% and the latest rates for the home plan having bandwidth of 256 kbps connections is just around Rs 250 per month instead of Rs 500 per month. They have also introduced a new Business Plan of DataOne with an entry-level tariff of Rs 700 for the 256 kbps connection.

The limit for this business plan is 2 GB and it is lower than Rs 1,200 plan for business users. These price cuts come in wake of the coming Independence Day and the prices would be applicable from August 16, 2005 (midnight of August 15). Home users under these new plans get 256 kbps at Rs. 200 with a download limitation of 400 MB.

The company has also cut down on its per MB additional usage charges for the higher end Home Plan users who would now have to pay less for the additional usage. The company also won’t be charging anything for security deposit for Home 250 and Home 500 plans. Even the installation fees are waived off until September 30, 2005.

BSNL is also introducing unlimited download capacities between the time period of 0200 hrs to 0800 hrs. This scheme is however not legible for Home 250 plan. Overall, it would come as a disappointment for all the BSNL Broadband users as they were expecting some kind of unlimited usage plans at decent prices. However, none of these packages are offering anything like that.

NewsPaper Said good morning with news “bsnl cuts….. 50%”
I just Google search for news… ( oh if this is related with BSNL and if this is new then …. yes it is right that that you should not open BSNL’s Sites, these are updated after an age. )
Dataone started in many cities bit late like July. and who got connection in July(and deposited cash in Feb 05) really feeling “BAD”
as they have paid 2000+500 +tax that is now available for 1200.

Also I don’t Think that this is PRICE CUT OF 50% this merely introducing a NEW PLAN of 250 Rs with 400 MB.
REAL Cut is 1200 plan ( if data limit is same)
400 MB limit is great ( but if we are living in 1999-2000) and speed is 33.6 kbps.
Internet is in Era of Songs, Animation, Movies, Video Chat and speciall Spywares, Ad Banners… At this stage 400 MB is like same thing like “MERE PAPA KA SAPNA… 15 paise main Baat karo”

but Still, who Graduated from the era of 33.6 kbps net connection ( 60 Rs per hour time) can compare and utter some Good words for these plans ( Even me )

I don’t say that 400 MB Limit is joke it can be usefull for Chatting and emailing ( for some home users who need to talk with relatives and knowns)

Real joke is that “FREE NIGHT SURFING”
It is “Free Early morning surfing”…

I read on one site (news paper, google news results) that it is 8 pm to 8 am but on rest it is 0200 to 0800

Its wakeup time now at 2.00 am.Switch on the Dataone and pc. Choose your download item, sleep and wakeup at 8.00 am. CAUTION:- Be sure to switch off at the right time. Its a good news from BSNL. I was expecting this before a month in revise charges of rates. The unlimited download time should be at 11.00pm to 8.00 am. But some people are interested to download at full time to get the full benefits of the offer.

I really failed to understand the cutting prises by 50% by bsnl dataone. Earlier it was 1gb at 499/- per month and now its 400mb @250/- per month. I do not see any prise cut in this plan. 02.00am to 08.00 am surffing free is horible for india and is really built in such a way that no body will date to use this free surffing. Considering huge numbers of pop-ups, advertisements, which are unwantedly comming while surffing on internet sites, the limit of 400mb download seems very funny.

As serious thought process at TRAI and Ministy of Telecomunication is badly required.

I got a bill for Rs 65,000 for July 2005 Broadband usage. Earlier I had DIAS for about three years and my usage did not ever exceed 250 MB a month except one month when I deliberately did some downloading of around 600 MB. Apart from writing regular letters, I have spoken to the GM (operations) Mr R K Mishra who told me that broadband bills will be four times DIAS bills in any case. His rationale was that the speed is faster. So what? If the usage is the same, what difference does the speed make? I told him that it is impossible for me to download 23 GB of dada and to upload 7 GB of data in one month. Details of my usage are weird too, and on several afternoons at around 4.18 pm when nobody is online, there is data usage of over one lakh KB. I want to make posts to the broadband forum but dont know how, so will somebody please contact me on yahoo and let me know. Also there is a password problem with dataone. Anybody can go to the password change page and type in the default password of xzy123 and change the password. Often I find my password has reverted to xyz123. So there is definitely some kind of theft going on and the BSNL officers are technologically handicapped and cannot solve the problem. Anybody, please help! Smita

I got 10,000 Rs as my bill for july. I have Home 500 connection .I m cheated by BSNL I was shocked at the amount mentioned in the bill.
There was no system to check my usage (upload /download) limit. Even the officials have given me a ID with wrong spelling of my name.
I was told at the time of installation that I have unlimited download access till the usage tracking system is in place and I was marrowed of 10,000 rupees . I wrote letters to the GM Faridabad but to no avail
They are FOOLING and CHEATING the poor consumers.
AT night also they are charging money BEWARE ITS NOT FREE AT NIGHT BETWEEN 0200 HRS TO 0800 HRS its just one of their bloody tricks .

The whole blog appears to be biased against BSNL.
All private sector players fleece the customers, atleast BSNL is reducing tariffs, whereby others will follow suit. Im sure if BSNL is not there the minimum tariff will be 1000 rs for 500 mb usage. People should thank BSNL for this.

This is my first month with dataone (home-500), i use to search required downloads and schedule those downloads between 2AM-8AM, but recently when i checked my usage, i found that the usage between 2-8 is also counted. Am afraid of the bill-date, can anyone tell whether i have to sell my home to pay the bill?

    Hi Fellowbeings,

Let me say something which I feel I know. I have taken BSNL Broadband around 3 months ago and I have not received my bill yet. In spite of me and my dad trying to call and know bout this problem, we did not get a proper reply and also we did not get the proper person to speak for. Each time the person we speak will provide us with a different phone number and this call chain goes on. I used Tata Indicom while in Bangalore and it was too slow (but no billing issues). Then when I came to Tamil Nadu I went for Reliance I-phone for internet. My bad days started there. This particular I-phone is having peculiar features that if you are connected to the internet and any of your family members try to put any appliances like, TV, Fan etc, the phone automatically disconnects the internet (isn’t it wonderful):( and also even I had opted for the unlimited usage plan of Rs. 1500, I used to get bill not less than Rs. 2500. SO I BEG YOU NOT TO FALL INTO THAT TRAP AND ALSO INFORM THIS TO YOUR NEAR AND DEAR. I am the wittness and victim.

Now speaking about BSNL, what I do is I virtually calculate my usage by dividing 1 GB = 1020 mb/30 days, so I can use up to 30 mb per day which comes to only approx 900 mb per month even I use on Sundays, which I don’t. Also I used to check my daily usage by clicking over the LAN icon which I use a max of 10 to 15 Mb per day. So I am sure I am not even using my assigned volume and obviously I am supposed to get the normal usage bill + tax.

I have never used the BSNL mail till now as we all know that there are other mail provider which are far too better, free and give us a huge mail capacity. Could anyone tell me the site address for bsnl mail and the default password.

As far as I have known to the best of my knowledge AIRTEL is the best provider for phone as well as Internet. They give an unlimited usage for just Rs. 900 and at present they have upgraded (free) to 256 kbps with no extra cost. Isn’t that wonderful. But the only drawback with them is they are satisfied with the volume of customers they have and are not greedy to expand like others. They are providing service to only selected areas and they will not come across places like railway lines, etc. If they are into a vast expansion, I am sure all the other so call giants will have to find their way out of this market.

PLEASE STAY TOGETHER, SO THAT WE CAN MAKE THINGS RIGHT.

    Always yours.

2500. Friends, its not a wonder that many of guys are receivng huge usage bills for BSNL DATA-ONE. Still BSNL is technically not perfect i think and lot of R & D is required. Poor download/upload speed is common problem for DATAONE. The Package of 2.00 to 8.00 free download/upload is also a joke. So just ignore BSNL and go for private service providor who can take action on your complaints / suggections. “VAISE BHI BSNL YE SARKARI MAMLA HAIN” so just “Bevare of BSNL” AT LEAST FOR ITS DATA-ONE PACKAGES.

BSNL is wholly fraud. First i was thinkin that 400 mb is enuff , but the bad ISP said whatever u click , wherever u surf ,evry site will , evry link u enter , each link either contain graphics , pop-ups , video streaming will decrease your free download/upload limits..I suggest , either divert ur ISP , privates ISP are bttr , then BSNL or disable java-script , active-script or others unwanted , luring video-streaming , online songs, pop-ups ..etc..thy are all ur bandwith cutter.

This ISP BSNL never gonna competit others ISP’s , BSNL have in-experienced non-technical employees , recruited for Broadband quiries.I just used for 1 months, and first bill sweat me .offfff!!! Damn BSNL… Never showed my usage on said “onlline site for usage check” . Allways showed “server error” . Goddamn , realy callow administrating company. ” TOTALLY SARKARI ” . I have change my previous ISP to current(Airtel). BETTER SLOW INTERNET SPEED RATHER THAN HEAVY UNDESIRED BILLS. Thy providing 64kpbs rather than BSNL corrupt promised before internet connection 256kpbs . Airtel has slow speed but unlimited..If we dont have free access to browse sites , how can be have wise or fun work on net ;-).

I am from West Bengal. For the last 3 days I am experiencing terrible speed and nobody gives any kind of support from BSNL. Its their network failure and not mine. I am sure of this. Their customer care is simply disgusting and so is the technology. They just want to give away more connections without improving their quality of service. In my 256 kbps connection I experienced a download speed of 30KBps. But for the last 3-4 days it is comeing arround 5 KBps. Its slower that dial-up. I called in my exchange, they said “may be everyone is experiencing the same”. I e-mailed them, the gave a autogenerated reply saing “Your docket number is …”. And it seems they have finished their duty. Nobody contacted me, and there is no improvement whatsoever. And I would like to caution those who are going to buy BSNL broadband that please do not buy your own modem, because the BSNL people does not know the configuration parameters. Their modems come pre-configured. If you buy your own modem (like I bought D-Link ADSL modem, because then I do not need to pay Rs 500 installation charge) you will need MTU, PVC etc to configure and nobody from BSNL will give you a clue about this. I got the parameters from calling D-Link service center.

The rate of Rs. 250/- p.m. should come down to Rs. 125/- p.m. or less along with increase in download capacity to 1 GB. or more. However, desion taking at BSNL takes too much time. You need to sever early and hence can earn more by garnering more customers. Because non in India has better resource than you.

GALI GALI MEIN SHOR HAI, BSNL CHOR HAI, BSNL CMD SHOULD RESIGN IMMEDIATELY FOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND UNCLEAR, TARIFF PLANS. Sent me bill of Rs2238.00 for NetOne. And this poor dial-up connection is not working properly since 3 months, re-dialing every 10 to 30 minutes and ping reply is extremely bad. When Im complaining to BSNL they just keep pointing to another person. Employees are big idiots, dont know how to talk with the customers. “Braod-band will come next month”, thats what they are saying for the last six months.

BSNL sucks… broad-band tariff is too high and unclear. They are just making people fool.

    1. Unlimited access between 02.00 to 08.00, bloody scheme of these bloody bastards. Who is going to waste all his night.
    2. Even after 02.00 they are counting bandwidth and calling it as FREE.
    3. No proper officer appointed to solve internet problems. Unless you kick the butts of the customer care, they wont listen to your problem.

BSNL DataOne is suitable for those employees, whose office/company uses BSNL DataOne and the said employee know the User ID. and Password of that DataOne account. Otherwise be prepared for a huge bill/disconnection of your existing BFone.

Initially I have got 250 plan and changed it to home 500. I believed reasonably that it had unlimited free downloads from 2pm to 8pm and used it profusely during the said time. By visiting http://p3hosting.bsnl.in:9080/BroadBandCustomer...
I am seeing a WHOOPING 31574 MBs of total usage. There is no separate column to specify the night usages (only time is mentioned)
