7 hrs of hardwork yielded 3 hrs of net service uptime

This is a 4 day old mail that I wrote after net went down after working for 3 hrs after i wasted 7 hrs getting it to work…
3 hours. That’s how long net worked after I spent 7 hrs getting it fixed earlier today.
1 light trip and the network was down. And is still down. And I don’t know for how long it will remain down.
You say the line is on UPS.
The CTO says its on an inverter with a single battery. And this was with a tone that he was doing me a big favor!
I don’t know what is stopping your CTO to get the line on an online UPS. The technology is available, then why not use it?
If the line is on an online UPS, there would be no tripping. And since there will be no tripping, there would be no blow outs of the power supplies. Does not require a PhD to solve the problem.
And as for power fluctuations from my house are concerned. Well, I don’t exactly run my house on a UPS. And your linesman did not actually had the wires to reach my PC’s UPS, so the power from my house is connected from an inverter powered switch. And I can’t actually help it. it was a solution provided to fix the problem of low power supply from the backend to the tower nearest to my house. And your linesman as usual was helpless. Coz of course Mr. Ashwini was not available. So he had to take the power from my house which was the only alternative at that moment. If that power is causing the problem, you are free to get that switch back to your own power supply as it was 3 days back. It does not do any good to me if it gives more excuses to ur linesman for my downtimes. The net was as reliable (or I should say unreliable) when it was running on ur supplies as it is now.
And as for problems from my network cable might be causing… I am actually amazed that something from my network card can ruin the power supply boxes 100 meters from here but would not cause any damage to my own PC. I don’t remember changing my computer parts on a regular basis…
I don’t know what I am supposed to say here. Net went down when I was chatting with the only client I have at the moment. 3 client I have already lost in the last week. And the best Mr. Manpreet can come up with is that he will talk to Mr. Ashwini who has conviniently switched off his mobile phone.
And again, I just told this to Mr. Manpreet.
I don’t need free dialup packages to compensate for Sify Broadband downtimes.
I don’t even need compensation Sify Broadband packages.
I just need what I pay for. I pay for a 24 hrs reliable internet connection. that is what I pay for and that is what I need.
Also, Sify people are free to checkup my computer for anything that might be causing problems to your network. If you suggest some part need replacement, if it is inside my spending capacity, I would not mind doing that either. I actually can’t get a new PC just because there are some assumptions that my PC is causing the network problems. It’s a pretty darn good PC in my opinion which has served me for long.

Sushubh
