Siemens might cut jobs in telephone division
Germany based electronics giant Siemens has announced plans to cut more jobs. This time in their telephone division. The number of workforce to be cut down is expected to be around 4,224 and this includes 2,860 workers in Germany itself. The company is suffering loses in their Com division, which covers the group’s activities in fixed-line and mobile communications.
Reports in say that these job cuts will happen over a period of 18 months with the majority occurring in its business communication systems, which would see 2,838 jobs being cut. More workers would be removed from their fixed and mobile telephone networks and wireless telephones for fixed lines.
Siemens would be moving these jobs to India. The company has however not officially announced these cuts and is expected to release a statement soon. IG Metal union itself has predicted that they would see a job cut of around 3,000 workers at the Com division after the legislative elections on Sunday.
