Google might be launching Wi-Fi services

Search engine giant Google might be planning to get into providing Wi-Fi internet services if we are consider some of the pages found on their website. The service is expected to be called Google WiFi by the looks of it. Wi-Fi is a way of connecting to the internet with high speeds using wireless connectivity at hotspots with installed Wi-Fi hardware in the locality.

If the company takes such a route, they would make an entry into the ultra competitive ISP segment which also has its currently competitors like Microsoft and AOL present in the segment. Some of the new pages on the Google website has several references to Google WiFi but provides no further details.

A section on their website that looks dedicated to this probable service talks about “Google Secure Access” which is supposed to “establish a more secure connection while using Google WiFi”. Another webpage on the same subdomain provides access to the free download of Google Secure Access, carrying the headline: “Your wireless connection is almost ready to use”.

The company has currently declined to comment on these market rumors.
