T-Mobile USA now has more than 20 million customers

The U.S. wireless unit of Deutsche Telekom AG, T-Mobile USA has announced that they now have more than 20 million customers in the North American market. The company was recently in news for rumors that its parent company was considering selling off their American unit considering the company would require massive investment in the coming months to upgrade its network to provide the new generation technology to its customers.

T-Mobile USA is the forth-largest U.S. mobile service and they have managed to double their user base in the last 10 quarters, which is quite an impressive result for the company. The company had reached 19.2 million subscribers by the second quarter of the current financial year.

The company is one of the fastest growing players in the American market but has a smaller user base compared to its larger competitors due to consolidation. The biggest player in the market that is Cingular Wireless has more than 50 million subscribers, which is more than double of T-mobile USA. Same goes for the other two players bigger than the company, which are Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel.
