Verizon reduces prices of phone service dramatically
Television cable network Cablevision had recently announced massive cuts in their prices for the broadband service. This has resulted in telephony service provider Verizon cutting their prices for unlimited telephone service across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic dramatically. This just adds to another battle between the cable and telephony service providers who have entered each other businesses in the recent times.
The end winner is the consumer who gets better services at cheaper prices and more options to choose from. The latest Verizon plans range from $35 to $40 for unlimited local and domestic long-distance plus call waiting, caller ID and voice mail, or from $30 to $35 for unlimited calling with no extra features. If we add taxes and other surcharges, users would be paying around $10 to $20 more in their monthly bills for these services.
These rates are around $15 cheaper than the prevailing rates in the market until now. The aim of both these genre of service providers is to converge the various services and provide one stop solution for the end consumer. This include calling, Internet, TV and wireless services in one single package and has resulted in bitter rivalry between telephone and cable companies.
Verizon has not revealed any timelines to expand these new prices in the remaining markets like the North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
