So, I am not alone. Someone found out about this blog and mailed me!
Mr. Alok Jain is a Sify Broadband customer from Delhi and this is what he has to say!

Susubh.
I saw your Blog on Sify; My experience with Sify (in Delhi) has been
equal or more horrifying – out of 65 days connection worked for only 10
days despite 130 phone calls to CTO, SIFY CC and local tech office. I
was wondering if you could sort out your problem or get some contacts to
help you. I would appreciate if you could share the same.
Regards,
Alok Jain

Bloody idiotic connection. And lies, blatant lies. First they promise my stable connectivity….hardly! Then the cable fellow they’ve routed the connection through is an old theif. First I got the 48kbps shard connection unlimited, he says you’ll be getting speeds of upto 6 kbps only for downloads. Never does it go above 5, i can assure you. Browsing speeds are fine, but what do they mean by 48kbps? Opera logs speeds while browsing, and never has it gone beyond 7.7kbps. When I contact the office, they say, you’ll get speeds ranging from 12 kbps to 48kbps. And they dare to call it BROADband? Perhaps they should either update their knowledge base, or stop thinking their customers are fools! TRAI has classified speeds above 256kbps to be broadband. Now, when i got my connection renewed (i renewed it for 2 months…i hear prices are gonna go down in april, due to the new Budget and more players stepping in) they said we’ve updated our infrastructure, you’d be getting 48kbps constant. Whoa, what do I find? The speeds are slower than an MTNL Dial-up!! And my download speeds never go beyond 3…for heaven’s sake 3 fecking kbps!!!! And then the cable fellow has the nerve to tell me that the pack he had given me before was the 64kbps one and i should have continued with that, which incidentally costs 695, not 450, as I had originally paid…as if…who’s being fooled here? I though I paid Rs. 450 itself, and that ain’t the rate for a 64kbps pack. After lambasting the turds and phone calls in the middle of the night to their call center, i am now getting decent speeds and download speeds of not more than 10 kbps. Then they call me up one day and tell me I shouldn’t download more than 150MB per day. Damn them, I thought mine was an unlimited pack, and I was clearly told that EVERYTHING is unlimited. So where do I go for the rare Hindustani Classical compositions? I record about 30 songs everyday from the net. Then I download books, sample papers, visit college websites with lots of image contents (I’ll be out of school this March end). And what should not take me more than 3 hrs or 4 hrs a day, takes me more than 7 to 8 hrs, and along with studying for boards, its one heck of a schedule. So I can’t log in to the net and consequently, my pack’s going waste. Now what do I do? Which provider should I opt for, next?

Really ****** up. I hardly use the sify connection in a weel around 1 or 2 times. When even I try I will find it down. When I call cable operator he will say yes its down problem at sify end but the sify software says problem at cable operator end. After 10 minutes it will start working. So apart from the money I paid for the plan I need to bear the cost of a phone call always. Is there any way we can fuck sify by suing them. I called up at sify customer care and some person came and checked my laptop and said all is fine. I told him I know all is fine but why the hell connection is always down when I try to log on. No answer they. Bloody bastard. Sorry for the language but this is nothing for the problem I am facing.

Sify is involved in unfair practice of blocking VOIP and asks you to use their service instead of tons of VOIP service.

    guys!
Check out the connections from reliance,MTNL,VSNL. You will love their offers. The only limitations is the availability in your area. I even checked the reliance’s rconnect and it offers a coll 115 kbps with good browsing & downloading speeds leave alone their broadbands.

rest..check it out urselves. As for sify…..nah!!!

I had taken 256 Kbps 1 GB connection from SIFY Broadband in Delhi in Dec 2005. The connection worked for 10 minutes. Then it stopped working. I was told by the Local vendor that they are shifting the server and the connection will be restored in 2-4 hours. It was never connected again. I complaint to SIFY CUSTOMER CARE. They gave me a complaint no and told me that within 12 hours the problem will be solved.Nothing happened despite everyday complaint for complete month. The height was SIFY people rang me up for renewal of the connection.
SIFY is FRAUD Company. They swellow money of yours and never provide service for which they carge. I wrote many email and almost every day lodged complaint but no remedy. Please do not have any business with the cheat company like SIFY.

what kind of a Service provider is this, Siffy, when there are no telephone numbers given on their site to make complaints, if we face problems. THe phone nos give funny ways of numbers to call for what, and then the result is zero. No email ids to make complaints.

My Account detail section shows 180 mbs consumed in a few hours, especially when the internet was not even connected for all those hours. This has happened month after month. No way we can check why so much of my credit has been wiped out in a few hours. Can someone show how? Does Siffy care that customers are troubled?
