Nokia not considering moving R&D to India from China
India and China are two of the most promising markets for the mobile phone maker Nokia. However, China continues to remain a priority for the world’s largest mobile maker as they have confirmed that Nokia has no plans to shift its R&D work from China to India. In addition, Nokia also added that they are planning to further beef up investments in the country.
However, Nokia has no plans to ignore the Indian market as it continues to remain a very promising market for them with great potential. Chief Executive Officer of Nokia, Jorma Ollila said in a statement that Nokia’s plans for the Chinese market would not be affected by their goals for the Indian market. Ollila was quoted as saying by China Daily: “India is a very promising market with great potential. Obviously we have high expectations there.â€
Ollila also said that the subscriber base in the Chinese market would continue to grow at a rapid pace in the coming years and they plan to fully utilize the potential of the market by expanding their network. Ollila added: “We believe that by 2010, China will have added another 250 million mobile subscribers, making it the single largest mobile market in the world.â€
Nokia is currently the world’s dominating mobile maker and has around 33-34 per cent share of the global mobile phone market. They also have a dominating share of the mobile market in the Chinese market.
