Nokia launches video tones application for Indian mobile users

World’s leading mobile maker Nokia has announced the launch of its Videotones application for mobile users in India. This feature is an innovative software application, which allows users of Nokia Series 60 handsets to experience rich multimedia music and video on the move. Users can now download video tones through GPRS by sending an SMS vt to 5555.

This would then enable the users of this service to view their favorite music video every time the phone rings. Mobile ringtones over the past couple of years moved from simple tunes to midi tunes to mp3 tunes. This is supposed to become the latest fad in the industry. Nokia has now become the first handset manufacturer to provide this service in India.

Raju Shastry, Technology Marketing Manager, Nokia said while announcing this new service: “With the changing consumer lifestyle today, mobile phones have emerged as a new form of entertainment. Downloading of mobile content, especially ringtones has become immensely popular among mobile users. Videotones add another dimension to ringtones and will further enrich the consumer’s mobile experience. We anticipate huge popularity for this service going forward.”
