LG Electronics to manufacture CDMA handsets in India

Electronics major LG has announced its plan to establish a manufacturing unit in India to make CDMA handsets locally to cater to the Indian consumer. Reliance changed the way mobile users in India bought mobiles as they started offering Reliance branded mobile phones in collaboration with these mobile phone makers.

And now LG plans to improve on its supplies in the Indian market with this local unit to supply the ever-growing mobile market in India. They plan to start manufacturing CDMA handsets in India next year and are also aiming to scale up production capacity of GSM mobile phones to 10 million from current one million by 2010.

LG Electronics India Ltd Managing Director KR Kim said in a statement: “We are contemplating starting manufacturing CDMA handsets by next year.â€ He was inaugurating LG’s fist one stop Service Mall in New Delhi. However, no details were announced regarding the investment LG would have to make to start this latest venture.

LG would be manufacturing these CDMA handsets at their existing plant in Pune. The Pune plant produces over one million GSM mobile handsets currently and this is also going to be expanded in the next couple of years.

Hi I’m looking for CDMA mobile phones and now I came to China to look for CDMA manufacture but did not find could you help me to find it, if it’s in India I go to India.
