Wow! It worked, and it worked during a power cut! Eeks, wait.

The statistics stand at the moment like this. 15 days out of 25 the net went down for more than 4 hours (counted only during the day time, the time when the support team could have fixed the problem). The day by day stat would present a more horrific picture.
After lot of effort went into arguing, yelling at Sify people, I finally managed after 5 months of terrible connections to get a working backup. No, its still not a UPS based backup and yes it still manages to hang switches in between. But, yes 2 out of 5 times it sometimes works when the power has gone. Like at the moment. Light is not there but the local network is somehow working. But the problem is that downtimes with Sify Broadband happen at various levels. And currently the local network might be working, the main servers are down and I can’t access the login page. So, I am still offline.
And the funny thing is that someone from their local team told me that it would hardly take an investment of around half a lakh to get this network on a wireless backbone ending all the problems of hanging switches and other stuff. But, apparently Sify like my old company is not interested in innovative ideas…
