Linksys Collaborating with Telabria to provide VoIP over Wimax
Skype has made VoIP a popular buzzword in households in the United States and other countries. And Wimax is touted as the next big thing in the Wi-Fi market. Now, many tech companies are working hard on merging the two technologies to provide VoIP services on mobiles using Wimax technology to communicate with the central network providing the services.
Linksys has announced that they are collaborating with Telabria to deliver VoIP services over a European Wimax-class broadband network. Telabria’s Skylink service would be delivering symmetric broadband at speeds up to 10Mbps to customers in South East England and they would be using a next-generation hybrid network of fiber and radio and completely bypassing the copper local loop.
This network would be used by the Linksys ATAs and the consumers could use VoIP handsets to access the network and make calls to regular phone numbers. Patrick Lelorieux of Linksys said in a statement: “Teaming with Telabria clearly demonstrates that Linksys products are the perfect fit in a carrier class communications network. We are delighted to join forces with one of the UK’s leading regional network operators to further drive sales of Linksys VoIP offerings.â€
