I had to download a 150 meg file last night. And only 45 megs of it is down till now. Why? Because, last night the authentication server was down. In the morning when I queued it in my download manager and went to sleep and later when I woke up it was down only 45 megs and the network was down. 5 hours since then, the network is still down and all that Sify people in Panchkula can say is that they are working on it.

And strangely, I got my 12th telephone number today from another Sify guy who claimed like the earlier 11 people told me. I am the one who has to provide you service so why did you not call me! Eeks, some days back his partner told me to call Sify call center instead of him because I was calling him way too much, so much that he had to get his number changed. And this guy tells me to call him instead of the call center.

Here are the levels of hierarchy in Sify channel:
1. Sify Customer Call Center
2. Sify Delhi Office
3. Sify Chandigarh Office
4. Local CTO
5. Local Linesman

When my net goes down, I first call the local linesman because he is the one who has to get the work done. If he does not have the necessary equipment (which happens almost always) he goes to the local CTO. The local CTO is actually the cable operator of another sector and is rarely in his office. His partner works in a bank so obviously again is never available. Then I call the Sify Chandigarh representative who can do nothing but call the Local CTO. And still if nothing happens I call the Sify Customer Care center which is apparently in Chennai. The response time of the call center can range from 30 minutes (server issues) to 16 hours (local cabling problem). Sify Delhi Office respond when I frustration mails to them. Local CTO finds me offensive (not a surprise because I lose in 2 days of net down what I pay him in the entire month). Local linesman is a frustrated man. He has got a disgusting network to manage, with little say in the networking decisions. He is the one who gets most of my hot temper and who is the least responsible for this pathetic connection.

Mark my word. There is little hope.
