Vodafone, Samsung and Qualcomm collaborates on mobile technology

Three of the most recognized names in the mobile phone technology have joined hands together to collaborate with each other in the mobile phone segment. Vodafone is the world’s largest mobile phone operator and they have announced a partnership, which involves both Samsung and Qualcomm. The aim of these three companies is to provide faster cellular phone services in Europe next year.

Vodafone is already the world’s largest mobile phone service provider and they would now be purchasing mobile handsets from Samsung, which happens to be Asia’s largest mobile phone manufacturer. Samsung on their part would be gaining the hardware support and mobile phone technology from the San Diego, California-based Qualcomm. Qualcomm happens to be the world’s second largest mobile phone chipmaker.

These new phones from this group would be using the high-speed downlink packet access, or HSDPA, transmission standard. This technology is good enough to download a feature film in one or two minutes as per the claims made by the group. The financial details of this collaboration have not been revealed however.

Vodafone is now apparently betting on the fact that the mobile phone users of today would go in for these newer technologies enabling them to download media content at a very high speed. The HSDPA services are capable enough to transmit data at speeds seven times faster than current third-generation standards.
