Reliance now offering ‘Times Now’ on mobile phones
Reliance Infocomm has announced the availability of a 24-hour English news channel ‘Times Now’ on Reliance India mobile phones. This channel is being provided in collaboration with the media group Times Group that runs the very popular Times of India newspaper.
This channel is also supported by the Reuters Service initiative and would be available on the R World, the multimedia application suite of Reliance India Mobile. This becomes the first service of its kind to be made available in India. The channel is yet to be launched for television networks. Times Group has said that they would soon be launching the television through cable operators.
During the launch ceremony, Times Global Broadcasting Company Limited Chief Executive Officer, Sunil Lulla said in a statement: “Times Now’s association with Reliance India Mobile has created a solution for urbanites that would be soon available to the television viewersâ€. Customers of R World with traditional mobile phones would be able to check out news clips on demand. However, the owners of higher end phones like Nokia 6255 and Nokia 6235 would be able to watch the streamed version of this news channel on their mobile phones.
