Bharti Tele-Ventures reports not so impressive revenue figures

India’s biggest mobile phone company Bharti Tele-Ventures has announced their quarterly revenue figures and they have failed to match the market expectations. The company reported third-quarter profit gains of around 25%. However, this was lower than what the market expected from the company.

The company reported a net income of Rs. 5.45 billion in the last quarter of 2005. This is an improvement on Rs. 4.36 billion, Bharti reported in the same quarter the previous year. This was lower than the figures of Rs. 5.71 billion estimated by the market analysts. Bharti also reported an improvement in sales figures, which touched Rs. 30.3 billion from Rs. 21.3 billion in the previous year.

Market experts believe that the company suffered from increasing competition in the local markets, which has now seen some of the lowest mobile service tariffs in the world. The companies have to launch some scheme or the other on a regular basis to maintain their user base in the Indian market. All these discounted schemes lead to lower profit margins for the company.
