AT&T launches ultra low priced DSL service

AT&T is the largest telecommunications carrier in the United States. And they are just going offensive in the ISP market in the country. They have launched a DSL service that will set a new monthly pricing floor at $12.99. The ISP market in the US is pretty competitive and these rates are now expected to start a price war between the companies offering internet services in the country.

AT&T has shown desire to tap in budget segment of the internet users around the country by regularly offering discounted pricing for their services. These prices were usually on par or lower than some dial-up access services.

However, this ultra lucrative pricing of their new packages did not help the company in the stock market, as the share prices remained more or less constant. AT&T is letting the interested customers signup for their services online and the new rate are applicable only if the user signs up for a year’s deal. After that, the rates shoot up to $29.99 a month.
