Update: Looks like I caught the Sify people at the wrong time. The page screened below was yet to be updated. The prices are applicable all over India and the ID does work everywhere!

Thanks to Sify People who responded quickly to my mail. The customer support surely is getting better with time! Hopefully the packages get more speed along with this price cut. I need a package with more speed but with unlimited data transfer capability. And of course at something affordable. Anyone listening???

If it was not bad enough that I had to spend 5 months fighting, yelling to get my connection fixed, I get more bad news. My friends in Delhi get speeds of 25-30 KBps on a 64 kbps line whereas I get 4-5 KBps on a 48 kbps line. Maybe the shared tag that my connection comes with is the reason behind it.

This is the smaller issue. Today when I got my account renewed I got a surprise. The package was quoted at the cost of 600 bucks as against 1079 originally. I checked the product plan pages of Sify Broadband and found this…

Sify Product Plan Page

So, they are really differentiating between the users based on their geographic location! Chandigarh don’t have any solid competition so we pay a premium but no so for the customers in Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. So, what am I supposed to do? Pay double just because they think I don’t have any more choices? Sick. Totally Sick.

Another thing. When I joined their network, they told me that my user ID is applicable throughout India. So, does that mean if I get my connection renewed in Delhi, I can get away with a 600 buck bill? If that is true, it sucks. And if it is not, it sucks even more.
