Internet subscribers growth slowing down in USA
A research report has claimed that the internet user base in the United States has somewhat slowed down in the recent times and is expected to stay more or less the same way in the current year.
As per a report released by Dallas-based Parks Associates, 64% of Americans are already connected to the internet in some form of the other. This is a minor and somewhat of a disappointing improvement from 62% last year.
The agency has also predicted that the next couple of years would see a growth of just around 3%, which might come as a disappointment to the large ISPs based in America. John Barrett, director of research at Parks Associates said in a statement: “I think (adoption) is slowing down. Part of it is that it’s hard to get cheaper on the dial-up side than where prices are already at.”
The report also claimed that of all the internet subscribers in the country, around 42 percent of Americans were on broadband connectivity. 22% subscribers in the country are logged on through a dialup connection. Another 13% US based internet users are accessing the net from outside their homes. While the rest are not using the internet at all.
Barrett added on these 22% Americans: “There are people out there, as hard as it is to believe, that don’t use e-mail. I guess old habits die-hard. It’s hard to imagine not using e-mail and not using Google, but there’s just a certain demographic where that’s the case.”
