America Online to raise dialup rates to push broadband

Time Warner’s internet division AOL has decided to follow an unconventional way to get their subscribers to upgrade their dial up connections to broadband ones. The company has announced that they would soon be raising their rates of their dial up services.

The aim is to encourage the users to switch to the broadband services offered by the company. As of now, subscribers to the AOL With Unlimited Dial-Up Plan pay $23.90 per month. From this coming march, these prices would be raised by $2. AOL has already started to inform the users of this price hike.

This new price would somewhat match the rates of the broadband services offered by the company. In some cases, these rates would be pretty close to these higher end services and AOL is hoping that many dialup users would be lured into switching to the broadband internet packages.

AOL has been losing out on the ISP business in the US since quite sometime. However, recent deals in the American market have seen them getting back on track as the company has made a solid re-entry into the broadband service market in the USA.
