India Roam and India Home: Airtel introduces its own ‘India One’ scheme

The Indian government’s plan to bring a uniform pricing structure in the Indian telecom scenario has shown its results. Reliance started it all with their plans to offer calls at Re 1 per minute to any phone in India. BSNL and MTNL followed after coming under pressure from the telecom ministry.

The latest news is that another private player Airtel has finally joined the bandwagon after announcing their ‘India One’ plans. Airtel is launching two new plans: India Roam and India Home for both their prepaid and postpaid customers.

Airtel said in a press statement about these plans: “For post-paid customers the company launched India Roam and India Home plans with rental of Rs 599 and Rs 299. In both the plans, all the STD calls would be priced at Re one per minute.”

The company would be charging Re one for two minutes if the customer calls another Airtel number. While, calls made to subscribers of other companies would cost Re one per minute. SMS continues to cost Re 1 for both local and national messages. The international calling charges are Rs 7.20 and Rs 9.99. Under these new plans.

Manoj Kohli, President, Bharti Airtel added his views on these new product offerings: “In keeping with the tradition of pioneering innovations in the Telecom sector, Airtel has made yet another significant move. The new plans are a result of the new ADC regime which we welcome as it helps us deliver greater value to the consumer.”

This plan is not available for prepaid customers! Airtel doesnt offer any new plan to customers under some other plan like life time and combo sim. So once you are in the net dont expect anything more. Idea cellular is better in this case.
