TRAI sends show-cause notices to telecom companies in India
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has finally taken some action as they issued show-cause notices to Bharti Tele-Ventures, Tata Teleservices Ltd, Reliance Infocomm Ltd as well as Reliance Telecom, BPL Mobile, and Spice communication for the quarter ending December 2005.
TRAI had to take this step after waiting for long to get the companies do something about the network congestion. However, after seeing that the companies were not doing much and the level of congestion was not under the levels set by them, this step was made necessary.
TRAI took into notice the performance report of the operators for the quarter ending December 2005. They reported that though there has been some improvement in the performance of the CMSPs in meeting the quality of service benchmark, but as regards POI congestion, most of the operators showed deterioration in their performance.
