ISD Service in India: BSNL drop rates of international calls
The state owned telecom company BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has announced that they are lowering some prices of their international ISD calls to US, UK, Europe, and other Asian countries.
This news comes just after private telecom operator Airtel announced their own plans to drop the rates of international calls on their services. Idea Cellular also has announced several drops on calling charges on their mobile services.
BSNL is now charging Rs 6 per minute for calls made to UK, USA, and Canada. This is down from Rs. 7.50 a minute previously. Calls to Europe and most Asian countries would be charged at Rs 8 per minute down from Rs. 9.68 per minute. Most of these discounts being offered by the telecom players in the country are due to recently announced reduction in access deficit charges by the telecom regulator TRAI.
Market experts believe that there is still possibility of prices coming down with international bandwidth prices also going down.
