COAI hits back at Telecom Regulatory Authority of India
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had recently issued show cause notices to some of the biggest mobile service providers in the country. these included notices sent to Bharti, Reliance Infocomm, Reliance Telecom, BPL Mobile and Spice Communication.
Now, these telecom companies have hit back at TRAI claiming that the regulatory authority is blaming them to hide their own failures. The Cellular Operators Association of India represents these mobile service providers and they have slammed the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for issuing show cause notice to mobile operators for network congestion.
The COAI said in its letter to TRAI: “It is a matter of grave concern to us that having been unsuccessful in its attempts, TRAI is now seeking to shift the blame on cellular operators by alleging that they are not taking effective steps through negotiations or through legal action to bring down the time period in the interconnection agreement. This shifting of blame on the private players, apart from being incorrect, also loses sight of the ground reality. We believe that TRAI, by issuing the above show cause notices, is not only accusing the wrong party, but is in fact blaming the victim for his desperate condition.â€
They also claimed that most of the problems faced by the users end up because of the state owned telecom company BSNL that dominates the market with its huge government funds and ADC money.
