MSN reduces prices of Dial Up services

Microsoft’s MSN division has announced that they are trimming the prices of their dialup services as the company is increasingly facing competition from cheaper DSL and cable broadband services.

This would also help the company compete better against the market giants America Online. The company has now cut prices to $17.95 a month from $21.95 on its dial-up service. In addition, the subscribers who sign up before June 30 will get the first month of service for free.

However, these new prices would only apply to new customers and prices are expected to revert back to regular rates after that. MSN still faces competition from other dialup service providers like NetZero, which provides similar services for much less.

AOL on the other hand is concentrating on a different strategy. They recently hiked the prices on their dialup packages to encourage the users to migrate to their DSL high-speed connections.
