Bharti Tele Ventures to enter retail segment

One of the leading private telecom companies in the Indian market, Bharti Tele Ventures has said that they would soon be entering into the retail segment. This would be done through a joint venture and Bharti expects to come out with finalized decisions in the coming months.

Bharti Televentures Chairman and Managing Director Sunil Mittal said in a statement while speaking at the CII Annual Conference: “A decision on the retail foray will be taken in the next three-four months and we are looking for a foreign partner to form a joint venture.”

They would be starting with food and grocery business and would invest as per the requirement of the business. Bharti also said that the company is still open to bid for airports modifications.

In addition, Bharti is already on its way to launch insurance operations in June. On the telecom side, the company is aiming to add 1 million GSM subscribers per month in 2006-07.
