AOL partners with Clearwire Team for WiMAX Access

Time Warner’s internet division AOL has said that they are working with Clearwire Corporation to provide its services wirelessly to their customers.

They would be providing internet services over WiMAX-class networks in 27 small and medium-sized cities.

AOL is initially providing this service in Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, Florida and Stockton and Modesto, California.

This service is provided through a new package called AOL High Speed and it would cost starting from $25.90 per month.

AOL and Clearwire would be providing download speeds of 768Kbps to 1.5MB and upload speeds of either 128Kbps or 2256Kbps, depending on service plans.

Joe Redling, president of AOL’s access business said in a statement on this new product launch: “This innovative approach to broadband access offers consumers additional levels of freedom and flexibility in how and where they experience AOL’s content and services — and stands to be a promising feature for new consumer segments.”
